Abstract

The role and function of the agricultural extension service for agricultural development which includes services, center of communication, center of institutional development and center of partnership development and the function of extension services as program planning and preparation, provision and dissemination of information, human resource development, administrative structuring and functions evaluation were less optimal. The lack of quantity and quality of agricultural (plantations), extension agents had lack of training along with agricultural (plantations) extension workers, there was a policy of transition from agricultural (plantations) extension workers to food extension workers. Agricultural (plantation) development also seen from economic growth, community welfare, and the increase in plantation production. The decline in production results in several commodities namely cloves, rubber, cocoa and coffee based on data from the statistical center since 2019 to 2022 in Bulukumba regency.

Abstract

Sago is one of the potential carbohydrate-producing plants in Indonesia that can be used for food diversification. This study aims to analyze the added value of various types of sago products processed by household sago processing industries in Bacan District, Halmahera Selatan Regency. The method used is the determination of informants determined by snowbell sampling (the number depends on the field conditions), namely 5 stakeholder informants consisting of community leaders, entrepreneurs, the Regency Agriculture Office and the Industry and Trade Office, as well as 7 sago processing informants. The analysis used to determine the sago processing industry business used cost, revenue, income, profit, and value-added analysis. With the research results, namely the added value for bagea processing is IDR 11,400 and sago biscuits are IDR 72,400 for each kilogram. Meanwhile, the added value ratio for bagea processing is 81.43% and sago biscuits are 96.53%. This shows that the development of sago processing industries provides positive added value.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the role and function of extension institutions on agricultural development (plantations) in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi Province and what obstacles in the extension and contribution of extension workers to agricultural development. This research was carried out in Bulukumba Regency using qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation and interviews with farmers, agricultural extension workers and counseling in the Department of Food Crops, Horticulture and Plantation in Bulukumba Regency.The results of the study showed the role and fugsi of plantation agricultural counseling institutions towards agricultural development which includes as a service, central communication, central institutional development and central development of partnerships and functions of counseling institutions as planning and depreciation of programs, provision and dissemination of information, human resources development, administrative arrangement and evaluation functions have not been maximal. The lack of quantity and quality of agricultural extension workers (plantations), the lack of trainings attended by plantation extension workers, the policy of transitioning from extension workers to extension workers of food crops. Agricultural development (plantation) is also seen from economic growth, community welfare, and increasing plantation production. The decline in production in several commodities, namely cloves, rubber, cocoa and coffee based on data from the central statistics agency from bulukumba district year 2014 to 2017.    Keywords: Role and Function of Counseling Institutions, on Agricultural Development.
