Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Kerajinan Akar Bahar di Desa Pulau Balai Kecamatan Pulau Banyak Kabupaten Aceh Singkil. Adapun yang menjadi rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimanakah proses pembuatan kerajinan akar bahar dan bagaimana perkembangan bentuk dan fungsi kerajinan akar bahar di desa Pulau Balai Kecamatan Pulau Banyak Kabupaten Aceh Singkil. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan proses pembuatan kerajinan akar bahar dan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana perkembangan bentuk dan fungsi kerajinan akar bahar di desa Pulau Balai Kecamatan Pulau Banyak Kabupaten Aceh Singkil. Pendekatan yang digunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis pendekatan deskriptif. Lokasi penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Pulau Balai Kecamatan Pulau Banyak Kabupaten Aceh singkil, subjek penelitian pengrajin akar bahar dan objek penelitian adalah proses, bentuk, manfaat dan fungsi kerajinan akar bahar. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan data reduction, data display dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembuatan kerajinan Akar Bahar meliputi beberapa tahapan yaitu: pengelolaan bahan, proses pembuatan bahan, finising. Adapun jenis kerajinan yang dihasilkan meliputi, gelang akar bahar, cincin akar bahar dan bunga akar bahar. Kata Kunci: Akar Bahar, Kerajinan Akar Bahar, Proses Pembuatan

Abstract

Student self-development encompasses cognitive, emotional, social, and professional development, essential for facing academic and social challenges. Lecturers play a central role as mentors in this process. However, mentoring in higher education is often suboptimal and informal. This study aims to understand students’ perceptions of the role of lecturers as mentors in self-development. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, using in-depth interviews with three students at the University of Muhammadiyah Aceh who had participated in lecturer mentoring activities. The results showed that students viewed lecturer mentors as guiding figures who provided both academic and emotional support. Lecturers were seen as participating in increasing students’ self-confidence, learning motivation, and critical thinking skills. However, lecturer involvement in mentoring remains variable and not formally structured. Therefore, a more focused mentoring system is needed to strengthen the relationship between lecturers and students so that they can support holistic student self-development.
