The method used in this community service is socialization and training (practice) which is carried out in several stages, namely: 1) Lecture/delivery of material, this activity is the stage of introduction and training to community service participants/partners regarding pakcoy plant cultivation using a hydroponic system; 2) Question and answer, this activity was carried out after the delivery of simple and useful hydroponic introduction material to see the interests and knowledge of partners related to the material presented; 3) Practice of making planting media by planting pakcoy seed seedlingsAs a result of this service activity, students can find out the stages in vegetable cultivation with a hydroponic system, so that students are trained to be more dexterous by utilizing used items that can be reprocessed, such as used plastic cups or used plastic bottles that can be processed as planting media. With a hydroponic system, the vegetables produced have many advantages for the body, besides that the vegetables that are digested are free from residues and pests and diseases. Other profits can be consumed by themselves as personal needs and as commercial needs to be sold

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance students' knowledge and skills in understanding and practicing the preparation of hydroponic nutrient solutions. Students from the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Papua Christian University, were selected as the target participants due to their relevant academic background and potential to be agents of change in the community. The activity's implementation methods included theoretical material on the basic concepts of hydroponic nutrition, practical mixing of AB mix solutions with PPM and pH value measurements, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' knowledge and skills in independently mixing nutrient solutions, as well as a growing interest in developing hydroponic practices outside of the training activities. This activity successfully had a positive impact on the students and can be further developed into a hydroponic-based agribusiness entrepreneurship program within the campus environment.

Abstract

Food security encompasses both national and household levels. The high dependence of Indonesian society on rice poses a major challenge, making local potential-based food diversification essential. The Sop Islands of Sorong City possess abundant local food resources, particularly cassava, yet their utilization remains limited. This community service program aimed to raise awareness of food diversification, train skills in processing cassava into croquettes, and promote the development of local food-based micro-enterprises. A participatory approach was applied through socialization, training, demonstrations, and technical assistance. The results indicated improved community knowledge on food diversification, enhanced ability to produce cassava croquettes, and the product’s potential as both an alternative food and a household business opportunity.
