Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah agar penggunaan cerita rakyat dapat digunakan siswa untuk menguasai kosa kata dan memotivasi mereka untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Penelitian dilakukan pada siswa kelas V SDN 01 Suruh Tasikmadu Karanganyar tahun pelajaran 2019/2020. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan buku cerita rakyat dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa dapat berhasil dan mampu meningkatkan penguasaan kosa kata siswa. Selain itu, kendala pada siswa seperti malu, canggung, gugup dan takut juga berangsur-angsur berkurang saat pembelajaran kosakata berlangsung. Nilai siswa juga mengalami kemajuan dari siklus satu ke siklus dua. Nilai rata-rata pretes adalah 65,58, nilai rata-rata posttes adalah 70,29 dan nilai rata-rata posttes kedua adalah 78,38.

Abstract

This article discusses community service activities in the form of socializing the concept of blended learning and its application in English learning for PKK RW 01 members of Sangkrah, Pasar Kliwon, Surakarta. The main objective of this activity is to introduce the blended learning model as an alternative learning method that is more flexible and effective in improving English language skills. The methods used included theoretical presentation through interactive lectures and blended learning video playing, group discussions, and simulations of the use of technology that supports blended learning. Each participant was given the opportunity to identify the aspects can be found in learning activities using blended learning. The results of this activity showed that participants understood the concept of blended learning and increased motivation in learning English. In addition, participants were able to implement the use of technology that supports blended learning such as mobile phone and learning application can be used in English learning, thus supporting the improvement of English language skills that are more flexible, effective, and fun. This activity is expected to be the first step in improving digital literacy and English language skills among PKK members, as well as an innovative learning model that can be applied in their family or wider community.
