Abstract

Maternal mortality and infant mortality are two indicators that describe the degree of public health as well as indicators of sustainable development in Indonesia. The acceleration of reduction these two indicators must be supported by antenatal care services since pregnancy for the safety of mothers and babies. Based on the results of the IDHS 2017, antenatal care coverage in Indonesia (77.4%) is still far from the target in 2024 (95%.) This study used logistic regression analysis with Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) resampling method because of imbalance data to explore the determinants of complete antenatal care visits in Indonesia and descriptive analysis to find out an overview of complete antenatal care associated with factors that are considered influencing it. Data that was used in this study is the Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) 2017 with unit of analysis for women of childbearing age who are married or live together and gave birth to their last child in the period 2012-2017. The logistic regression results of the SMOTE method show that the variables of mother's education, husband's work status, knowledge of pregnancy danger signs, distance to health facilities, timing first antenatal check, mother's age, economic status, birth order, and number of problems during pregnancy significantly affect the completeness of antenatal care visits. The policy recommendations in this study are expected to be adopted by government to increase antenatal care visits in Indonesia as an effort to reduce maternal and infant mortality.

Abstract

Poverty is still being an issue all over the world. It also happens in Southeast Asia that mostly consists of developing countries that identic with high poverty rates. Countries in the world have tried to eradicate the problem of poverty, it's just that it can be hampered due to the high level of corruption. This study aims to look at suitable models and the relationship between corruption and poverty. The data source in this study is secondary data from ten countries in Southeast Asia from 2015 to 2018. Analysis of the data used in this study is panel data. The result obtained is a panel data regression model that is more suitable for modeling the effect of corruption on poverty in Southeast Asian countries is a fixed effect model. Based on the model, the corruption represented by Corruption Perception Index (CPI) and the poverty represented by Human Development Index (HDI) is directly proportional which means every increase in one unit of CPI will also increase the HDI score by 0.001443 unit.

Abstract

Smoking behavior is certainly a serious problem that needs to be resolved immediately in Indonesia. It because smoking has been shown to trigger various diseases. More than that, smoking can also causes death. Based on the results of Riskesdas in 2013 and 2018, the province with the highest smoking prevalence in Indonesia is Jawa Barat. Moreover, the prevalence of smoking in Jawa Barat also shows a stable trend and has always been above the national prevalence since 2001. If we look at the spatial distribution, the prevalence of smoking in Jawa Barat shows a grouping where close districts/cities have a similar values to each other. It indicates spatial dependencies that need to be accommodated in the modeling. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the factors that influence the prevalence of smoking in Jawa Barat by using spatial analysis. Based on the spatial lag model, it was found that the percentage of the population graduating from high school and the percentage of the highland area had a significant effect on smoking prevalence in Jawa Barat. While the percentage of the married population, the percentage of the working population, and tobacco production had no significant effect.
