Abstract

Education is a place for producing students who are intelligent, disciplined, independent, and of high quality. Schools should be safe and comfortable places for learning; however, recently they have become environments where bullying cases are developing. SMP Methodist 1 has become one of the schools where bullying occurs. Bullying is a form of behavior that harms others who are perceived as weak, economically disadvantaged, or disabled. Bullying can be physical, such as hitting and other aggressive actions carried out individually or in groups. Verbal bullying is also common and includes mocking physical appearance, financial status, belittling peers or parents, using inappropriate language, and intimidation. Additionally, there is cyberbullying, which is conducted by individuals or groups through social media to ostracize others. Bullying has dangerous and long-lasting consequences, affecting physical, emotional, and mental health, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and decreased academic performance. Based on this data, there is a need for effective measures to reduce bullying at SMP Methodist 1. One approach is to teach social skills. The social skills taught include empathy, communication, emotional regulation, and problem-solving. These social skills are expected to be beneficial in detecting and preventing bullying in the school.

Abstract

ABSTRAK                                                                            Permasalahan yang dihadapi di UPTD Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia X, Sumatera Utara adalah kurangnya pemahaman pengasuh mengenai kesehatan mental lansia serta tidak optimalnya sesi konsultasi dalam membantu lansia mengatasi masalah kesehatan mental. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan pengasuh tentang kesehatan mental lansia melalui psikoedukasi dan melatih keterampilan mendengarkan cerita lansia untuk menjalankan konsultasi dengan tepat. Metode yang digunakan adalah experimental design dengan empat tahap, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi serta monitoring. UPTD Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia X, berfokus pada pelayanan dan rehabilitasi sosial bagi lanjut usia yang terlantar atau tidak mampu. Lembaga ini memiliki visi dan misi untuk mewujudkan lanjut usia yang sejahtera, dan bahagia melalui pemenuhan kebutuhan dasar, kesehatan, serta aktivitas sosial yang mendukung kualitas hidup mereka. Program kerja tersebut dilaksanakan oleh Seksi Pengasuhan yang kontak langsung dengan lansia. Oleh karena itu, partisipan dalam pengabdian ini adalah 10 orang yang berasal dari Seksi Pengasuhan (urusan pelayanan PPKS dan urusan analis pelayanan sosial). Instrumen yang digunakan berupa kuesioner pengetahuan kesehatan mental lansia. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan kesehatan mental secara signifikan, dari total skor benar 28 sebelum pengabdian menjadi 57 setelah pengabdian. Selain itu, lansia merasa lebih nyaman bercerita, tidak lagi takut dihakimi, dan merasakan adanya solusi nyata terhadap masalah yang dihadapi. Kegiatan ini berkontribusi positif pada peningkatan kualitas layanan panti werdha, membuat lansia lebih bersemangat mengikuti aktivitas sosial, serta memperkuat kompetensi pengasuh dalam mendampingi lansia. Kata kunci: Psikoedukasi; Kesehatan Mental Lansia; Latihan Mendengar Cerita; Konsultasi; Panti Werdha ABSTRACTThe problem faced by the Social Orphanage X, North Sumatra is the lack of caregivers’ understanding of elderly mental health, as well as the suboptimal consultation sessions that are supposed to help the elderly cope with mental health issues. This community service program aims to improve caregivers’ knowledge of elderly mental health through psychoeducation and to train their listening skills in order to conduct proper consultations. The method used is an experimental design consisting of four stages: preparation, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring. The Social Orphanage X focuses on providing social services and rehabilitation for neglected or underprivileged elderly individuals. The institution’s vision and mission are to realize elderly well-being and happiness by fulfilling their basic needs, ensuring health, and supporting social activities that enhance their quality of life. The program is carried out by the Caregiving Section, which directly interacts with the elderly. Therefore, the participants in this program consist of 10 individuals from the Caregiving Section (Elderly Welfare Service Unit and Social Service Analyst Unit). The instrument used was a questionnaire on elderly mental health knowledge. The results of the program indicated a significant improvement in mental health knowledge, with the total correct score increasing from 28 before the program to 57 after the program. In addition, the elderly felt more comfortable sharing their stories, were no longer afraid of being judged, and experienced real solutions to their problems. This activity contributed to improving the quality of services at the nursing home, encouraged the elderly to be more enthusiastic in participating in social activities, and strengthened the caregivers’ competencies in assisting the elderly. Keywords: Psychoeducation; Elderly Mental Health; Story Listening Exercise; Consultation; Social Orphanage

Abstract

ABSTRAK Perencanaan karier merupakan hal penting bagi siswa sekolah menengah atas yang sudah memasuki kelas XII. Perencanaan karier dimulai dari proses memilih pendidikan, pilihan karier, serta mengelola karier yang dilakukan seumur hidup. Siswa yang tidak memiliki perencanaan karier yang baik, akan membuat dirinya kesulitan dalam menentukan langkah demi langkah dalam hidupnya. Hal ini tercermin di SMA Muhammadiyah Sokaraja. Dalam hal ini siswa kelas XII masih belum memiliki tujuan dan perencanaan yang jelas. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman mengenai perencanaan karier dan komponen penting di dalamnya dan meningkatkan pemahaman peserta dalam merencanakan karier. Pengabdian kali ini menggunakan metode sosialisasi dengan melibatkan SMA Muhammadiyah Sokaraja sebagai mitra pengabdian. Sosialisasi tersebut dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan yaitu a) persiapan sosialisasi dimana tim pengabdian melakukan koordinasi awal megnenai kebutuhan mitra, b) pelaksanaan kegiatan sosialisasi yang terdiri dari tiga bagian yaitu pengantar, pemberian materi dan pasca sosialisasi, c) evaluasi sosialisasi yaitu melakukan analisis data pre-test dan post-test. Peserta kegiatan sosialisasi ini berjumlah 30 siswa kelas XII. Hasil dari sosialisasi perencanaan karier berupa peningkatan pemahaman peserta dengan perbedaan rata-rata pre-test dan post-test sebesar -4.7 poin (tanda negatif berarti hasil post-test lebih besar dari pre-test). Jika dilihat dari effect size data tersebut menunjukkan angka -1.02 yang berarti kegiatan sosialisasi ini memiliki pengaruh yang besar dengan persentase sebesar 84%. Dengan adanya kegiatan sosialisasi seperti ini, diharapkan dapat menjadi kegiatan awal yang mempelopori kegiatan-kegiatan serupa di masa yang akan datang.Kata kunci: Perencanaan Karier; Siswa SMA; Sosialisasi.ABSTRACTCareer planning is an important matter for high school students, especially those in their final year. Career planning begins with the process of choosing an education, a career path, and lifelong career management. Students who lack good career planning will find it difficult to determine their life’s next steps. This is reflected at SMA Muhammadiyah Sokaraja, where 12th-grade students still lack clear goals and plans. The objective of this community service project was to provide knowledge and understanding of career planning and its important components as well as improving students’ level of understanding about career planning. This project utilized a socialization method with SMA Muhammadiyah Sokaraja as a partner. The socialization program was conducted in three phases a) preparation, where the team held intial coordination meetings to assess the partner’s needs, b) the implementation, which was comprised of three parts: an introduction, the presentation, and post-socialization, and c) the evaluation of this program, which involved analyzing data from pre- and post-tests. The socialization event was attended by 30 12th-grade students. The results showed an increase in participants’ understanding of career planning, with a mean difference between the pre- and post-test scores of -4.7 points (the negative sign indicates that the post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores). The effect size from the data was -1.02, indicating that the socialization activity had a large effect, accounting for 84% of the variance. It is hoped that this type of socialization activity will be the first of many similar initiatives in the future.Keywords: Career planning; High school students; Socialization program.

Abstract

This study aims to modify the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) measuring instrument compiled by Kwon et al (2013) which consists of 6 dimensions. The study used quantitative methods with a total of 258 respondents aged 17-26 years or are in emerging adulthood in Indonesia. Purposive sampling. Researchers modified the smart phone addiction measuring instrument (SAS) from 43 items to 49 items. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the content validity test showed 4 items were invalid, the item difference test resulted in 2 invalid items, and factor analysis of 5 invalid items. The final number of items is 38 items. The results of the multidimensional test show that the dimensions of interference in daily life have an r value of .857, positive anticipation has an r value of .810, withdrawal has an r value of .827, relationship orientation in cyberspace has an r value of .806, excessive use of smartphones has an r value of .848, and, tolerance has an r value of .765, whereas, the alpha reliability test results obtained a value of 0.937 and the modified smart phone addiction measuring instrument model is fit.
