Abstract

This paper wants to position environmental aspects as the main doctrine (ushūl) of Islamic law which is possible to influence and change the mainstream of human beings to behave well towards the existence of the environment. Ontologically, the hifẓ al-bī'ah paradigm is built on the basis of the maṣlaḥah concept which is the core of the concept of maqāṣid ash-sharī'ah formulated in al-kulliyyāt al-khamsa (Five basic benefits), namely guarding religion (hifẓ ad-din) , guarding the soul (hifẓ an-nafs), guarding offspring (hifẓ an-nasl), guarding reason (hifẓ al-'aql) and safeguarding wealth (hif (al-māl). These five things are a necessity to enforce benefit. Specifically the correlation of al-kulliyyāt al-khamsa related to environmental conservation, are: First, Environment is a key word in building a religious society order. Why not, belief in the creator must begin with an introduction to the universe. Second, the environment is the basis of survival. Third, there is an appropriate punishment for perpetrators of environmental damage.

Abstract

This paper departs from the problem of misinterpretation of religious texts that need to be traced sociologically and historically into Indonesian Islamic scientific literature, particularly the Qur’anic Exegesis literature. Further this writing tries to look for the middle path or even as an anti-thesis to those misinterpretations. To know the thought of Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy, that of Hamka, and that of Quraish Shihab on religious moderation, the author uses a historic-sociological approach. The result of this study concludes that their conception in general can be described as follows: First, from the aspect of definition, Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy, Hamka, and Quraish Shihab have interpreted religious moderation comprehensively. Second, there are seven dimensions of religious moderation being supplemented by its indicators namely moderation in the aspects of theology, that of worship, that of relationship (mu’amalah), that of law, that of creation of man and the universe, and that of the government and culinary. These seven dimensions of moderation are highly relevant to the context of Indonesian society which is maritime, plural, heterogeneous as well as multiethnic, linguistic and religious. Key words: Moderation, Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy, Hamka, Quraish Shihab.

Abstract

This paper departs from the interpretation of couples in heaven who are considered less friendly to women's groups. This paper discusses how the Nusantara interpreters interpret zauj as a partner in heaven. There are five books of interpretation chosen in this paper, namely Tafsir Marah Labid, Tafsir Al-Ibriz, Tafsir an-Nur, Tafsir Al-Azhar, and Tafsir Al-Misbah. To find out their views on the meaning of zauj as a partner in heaven, the author uses a historical approach. The results of this study conclude that the interpretation of Quraish Shihab in Tafsir Al-Misbah on the word zauj as a partner in heaven is much more gender-friendly than the previous commentators. If mapped, Nawawi al-Bantani, Bisri Musthofa, Hamka and Hasbi tend to follow the current view of the traditional commentators.

Abstract

Talking about science and technology, the presence of interpretation with a scientific style has become one of the interpretation trends in the modern and contemporary era. The spread of various interpretive works with a scientific style in the modern-contemporary era is often attributed to the widespread influence of the emergence of Tantawijauhari's (d. 1358 AH/1940 AD) magnum opus, al-Jawāhir fī Tafsīr al-Qur'an al-Karīm. Talking about the dynamics of scientific interpretation in Indonesia continues to develop. In the 1960s, Hasbi ash-Shiddieqiy's tafsir al-Nur began to use scientific discoveries in interpreting several verses of the Koran, although the number was still very small. The 1990s were marked by the spread of books about the relationship between the Koran and science. And in the 2010s, complete works of scientific interpretation have emerged, such as the Scientific Interpretation of Water in the Perspective of the Qur'an and Science, Plants in the Perspective of the Qur'an and Science, and the Apocalypse in the Perspective of the Qur'an and Science which is the work of collaboration between Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf al-Qur'an, Research and Development and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), and Tafsir Salman Tafsir Ilmiah on Juz 'Amma by ITB scientists and scientists.
