Abstract

Basically models of exegesis can be grouped into two variets, that which is exoteric or esoteric. The first model gets extraordinary support from Qur’an researchers.  This is evident in the number of their commentaries that until now are countless. This phenomena leaves behind the second model of exegesis, although there are several religious scholars who have examined it so that they have produced books but it can be said these works are extremely rare.  Nevertheless, both exoteric and esoteric exegesis have the same urgency of importance.  According to a number of religious scholars, such as al-Ghazali, exoteric commentary, lacking esoteric content, in several matters is not capable of fully and comprehensively under-standing the purpose of the Qur’an. For this reason, this papers seeks to analyze esoteric exegesis commencing to its conceptual constructs, legal basis and conditions to its several models of commentary.

Abstract

‘Ā’ishah ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bint al-Shāṭi’ (1913-1998) was an Egyptian female scholar who successfully applied a literary approach to interpreting the Qur’an. He put the idea in one of his monumental works, namely al-Tafsīr al-Bayānī li al-Qur’ān al-Karīm. This paper seeks to explain aspects of the interpretation methodology and some of the crucial issues in it. In the aspect of methodology, will be explained about the background of writing, sources, systematics, methods and interpretation patterns. While some crucial issues discussed are about the discourse of synonymity, asbabun nuzul and israiliyat. At the end of this article also comes with some critical notes on the thematic methods offered by Bint al-Shāṭi'’

Abstract

Although the slavery system has been eliminated from the world order, the practice can still be found in other forms, such as human trafficking or the sale of women as illegal workers through online applications. The Qur’an responds to the practice of slavery in various terms. One of them is milk al-yamīn. It is important to study the concept of milk al-yamīn by reading the diachronic-chronological history. In order to know the dimensions of continuity, change, and development of meaning from the classical to the contemporary period. This study examines four interpretations, each representing a different period. Classical interpretation is represented by Tafsir aṭ-Ṭabarī, the middle period is represented by Tafsir al-Qurṭubī, the modern era is represented by Fī Zhilāl Al-Qur’ān, and the contemporary era is represented by Tafsir al-Munīr. This research shows that the interpretation of milk al-yamin in the classical and medieval era tends to be the same. Then underwent a change in meaning in the modern and contemporary period.

Abstract

Al-Qasas and al-amsal have not yet received a large portion of exploration from the maqasid side, even though their percentage in the Al-Quran is very large. Research on maqasid Al-Quran has begun to be carried out a lot, but existing research focuses on maqasid figures or discussion of maqasid Al-Quran with an asy-shariah maqasid perspective. Therefore the author tries to conduct research on the theme of Al-Qasas and al-amsal in Surah Al-Kahf with the aim of elaborating the interpretation of the verses that are the object of research using the Maqasidi Tafsir approach and contextualizing them. In this study the authors conducted a library research (library research) with the primary data source of Tafsir At-Tahrir wa At-Tanwir and Tafsir Al-Maragi by conducting data analysis using the Wasfi Asyur methodology.The results of this study indicate that between maqasid tafsiliyyah Al-Qasas and al-amsal in Q.S. Al-Kahf is tatsbit wa taqwiyah al-Iman (confirms and strengthens faith), hifzad-din (guarding religion), at-ta'yid (strengthening), at-tazkir (remembrance). The application of the maqasidi method boils down to the contextualization of the verses under study. Among the results: verbal bullying of preachers in cyberspace as a result of the study of maqsad taqwiyah al-Iman: critical thinking and the urgency of forecasting science in making policies based on the results of the study of maqsad al-i'tibar: Technological innovation as a means of national defense as a result of reading maqsad hifzan-nafs and hifzal-mal.

Abstract

This paper discusses the typology of the names of the surahs of the Qur'an, the methodology for their determination, the works produced by the scholars, and the maqāṣid implied by these names. By using the type of qualitative research library research, data processing using descriptive-analytic and maqāṣidī and socio-historical approaches, it can be seen that the source of naming the surah is taken from the beginning of the word, the main theme of the surah, foreign and unique terms, and the names of the characters. Typologically, each surah has various names. There are suras that have one name, some surahs are mentioned in one name, and some have more than one name. From the editorial side, these names are in the form of letters, isim, and fi'il. The methodology for determining the surah is carried out in three ways; through the guidance of the Prophet (tauqīfī), the ijtihad of sahabah or tabi'in, and a combination of the two. Meanwhile, works around this theme can be classified into three models, namely intact works, part of book chapters, and works for the benefit of academic assignments. From the maqāṣid aspect, each name has a purpose and message that is always inherent in the main theme of the surah. Abstract

This paper departs from the problem of misinterpretation of religious texts that need to be traced sociologically and historically into Indonesian Islamic scientific literature, particularly the Qur’anic Exegesis literature. Further this writing tries to look for the middle path or even as an anti-thesis to those misinterpretations. To know the thought of Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy, that of Hamka, and that of Quraish Shihab on religious moderation, the author uses a historic-sociological approach. The result of this study concludes that their conception in general can be described as follows: First, from the aspect of definition, Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy, Hamka, and Quraish Shihab have interpreted religious moderation comprehensively. Second, there are seven dimensions of religious moderation being supplemented by its indicators namely moderation in the aspects of theology, that of worship, that of relationship (mu’amalah), that of law, that of creation of man and the universe, and that of the government and culinary. These seven dimensions of moderation are highly relevant to the context of Indonesian society which is maritime, plural, heterogeneous as well as multiethnic, linguistic and religious. Abstract

Dugaan intoleransi antar agama, telah digunakan oleh para orientalis atau kritikus Al-Qur’an sejak dahulu untuk mendorong upaya menghapus sebagian atau merevisi Al-Qur’an. Penelitian ini menganalisa gagasan Sita Ram Goel mengenai penghapusan ayat-ayat “intoleran” dalam Al-Qur’an, terkait deskripsi gagasannya, dan bagaimana analisa kritis terhadapnya. Penelitian ini termasuk katagori library research, berjenis kualitatif dan bersifat deskriptif-analitif. Pendekatan yang dipilih adalah sosio-historis, kritik ekstrinsik sastra dan pendekatan bahasa. Penulis mengumpulkan data gagasan penghapusan ayat-ayat “intoleran” dari buku the Calcutta Qur’an Petition karya Sita Ram Goel. Temuan penelitian menyebutkan tujuan dari gagasan penghapusan ayat-ayat "intoleran" adalah desakralisasi Al-Qur’an sebagai wahyu suci. Isu intoleransi digulirkan kepada ayat-ayat Jihad dan Qital, dengan tetap mempertahankan kritik tradisional sebagai pendukung. Walaupun demikian, Al-Qur’an selaku wahyu dan mukjizat akan tetap terpelihara sesuai QS. Al-H}ijr [15]: 9.

Abstract

Tesis ini Tesis ini meneliti tentang respon anggota komunitas Arsyada Yadaka terhadap pengobatan ayat-ayat ( syifā' ) secara fungsional. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologis. Adapun teori yang digunakan adalah privasi fungsional, dengan pengumpulan data yang diperoleh dari hasil observasi dan wawancara terhadap pendiri dari komunitas Arsyada Yadaka dan beberapa informan utama lainnya. Sedangkan hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa respon anggota Arsyada Yadaka dari segi fungsionalisasi ayat-ayat pengobatan ( syifā' ) terbagi menjadi dua aspek, yaitu aspek motif sebelum-sesudah (sebelum dan sesudah), seperti agar tidak mengacuhkan Al-Qur'an, sebagai media dakwah, dan menambah khazanah ilmu Pengobatan. Sedangkan dari aspek penggunaan ayat-ayat pengobatan ( syifā' ) adalah untuk mengobati penyakit medis seperti saraf kejepit, penghenti pendarahan, penguat rahim dan non medis, seperti gangguan sihir atau santet.

Abstract

This study examines KH. Ahmad Bahaudin Nur Salim From the characteristics of his orality, Ahmad Bahaudin Nur Salim uses the orality theory of Walter J. Ong and analyzes the ideology of Ahamad Bahaudin Nur Salim's interpretation from the point of view of theology and fiqh. This study uses a type of library research. The presentation of the data in this paper is in the form of descriptive-analysis, decoding the data of Syafahi KH. Ahmad Bahauddin Nursalim, namely the writer, will describe the discussion as it is from recorded data in the form of video and audio on the Official YouTube channel LP3IA, Santri Gayeng, and Tafsir NU and then filtered according to the research that the author will examine, namely the interpretation of KH. Ahmad Bahauddin Nursalim regarding the verses that the author has chosen according to the theme discussed. The author's findings show that from the 10 verses discussed by the author, it can be taken as a common thread that in general the characteristics of Gus Baha's speech fulfill the 5 characteristics of the theory of speech offered by Walter J Ong. In terms of the interpretation, the author can say that Ahmad Bahaudin Nur Salim's syafahi interpretation follows Sunni Ash'arî theology, in terms of fiqh he follows the  Syafi'i madhhab.

Abstract

This paper attempts to address the discourse of interpretive criticism; starting from the definition, history, legal basis to the principles and parameters of criticism. To get a clear description, a historical approach with descriptive-philosophical methods is used. This study comes to the conclusion that critique of interpretation is scientific and systematic steps to carry out analysis, and evaluation of the interpretation of the Qur'an. Normatively, the legal basis of interpretation criticism can be traced in the Qur'an, the Sunnah of the Prophet, the opinion of friends and scientific principles. As for the principles and parameters of interpretive criticism that need to be guided by being fair and proportionate, being moderate, knowing aspects of qaṭ'īyāt, not violating ijma' (consensus), paying attention to customary norms (al-'urf), paying attention to context (siyāq), consider the benefits, dan use logic (manṭiq).
