Abstract

This research aims to learn the correlation between painting activities and psychological needs of theteens. There are two variables in this research covering painting activities as the independent variableand psychological needs as the dependent variable. The correlation technique of Product MomentPearson is used to know the correlation between painting activities and the psychological needsof the teens, while the calculation uses the computer program SPSS 15 for windows release. Subjectof this research is all active students of the Pure Fine Arts Department in Institut Seni IndonesiaSurakarta. All data that is collected covers 61 subjects. The measuring instrument used is the intensityscale of painting activities and the scale of psychological needs. The result of this research showsthe coefficient correlation (rxy = 0,746; p = 0.000), it means that there is a significant correlationbetween the painting activities and the psychological needs to the teens. Meanwhile, the determinationcoefficient of the correlation is R2 is 0,556. It means that the painting activities give the effectivecontribution to the psychological needs to the teens as much as 55,6 % while the rest of 44,6 % isdetermined by other variables.Keywords: painting activities, psychological needs.

Abstract

This research aims to determine how to develop children’s creativitiesthrough drawing. This type of research is qualitative. The source of data in this study includes the children’s works, many literatures related to the research, documents, data collection techniques used in the study of literature,observation, and documentation. Results of the study are several ways to develop the children’s creativitiesthrough drawing. They include enriching children’s abilities in drawing, drawing freely, coloring by mixing a variety of medium, providing various facilities to draw, being creative every day,drawing while playing, drawing while storytelling, creative holidays, parental involvement. Some of the techniques describe efforts to develop the children’s creativitiesthrough drawing. This study emphasizes on the development of children’s creativities rather than emphasizing on the skill in drawing. Drawing activity gives more attention to the process than the results. It is important to make the children relaxwithout coercion from others when theyare drawing,so that the resulted image is very unique and naturally suitable to their expressive soul.Keywords: drawing, developing creativity

Abstract

The Covid-19 virus is still spreading throughout the world.  In fact, many are worried about being exposed to this virus, especially the elderly.  Anxious feelings due to excessive Covid-19 will lower his immunity.  Over time, this anxiety disorder can get worse and interfere with the sufferer's quality of life, therefore anxiety needs to be managed.  One way to deal with anxiety is through art therapy.Art therapy used in this study is through drawing and fruit creation, where the media used for art therapy is in accordance with the one chosen by the participants.  This study used a qualitative analysis based on: Self Report (Interview and Anxiety Scale using the measurement of anxiety levels using the TMAS (Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale) instrument compiled and developed by Tylor, given three times, namely (pretest, posttest and follow up).  Ratiing By other, and Observation (Re-checting). The results of this study indicate a change in anxiety levels before and after the intervention.  Evidence obtained from the four participants shows a change in the total value of anxiety.  Thus, art therapy has been shown to reduce anxiety in the elderly due to the Covid-19 pandemicKeywords: Art therapy, Anxiety Disorders and Covid-19
