Abstract

Abstract

The movie series "Gadis Kretek" is an adaptation of Ratih Kumala's novel, framing the family business life within the clove cigarette, known as kretek, industry. This adaptation portrays the societal realities against the background of local wisdom related to the kretek industry in Java. The kretek industry has evolved into one of the largest revenue-generating sectors for the Indonesian government, second only to oil and gas. Kretek have become a cultural heritage of Indonesia, embodying historical and cultural values intertwined with the activities of its people. These values shape a space that relates to form, function, and meaning in architecture, understood through dialogue and image within the movie's scenes. This study will analyze and interpret the production of space in the "Gadis Kretek" movie series and examine the underlying meanings as representation of Javanese society.

Abstract

The market performance is intricately linked to the activities of traders, who play a central role in market dynamics. However, the extent of traders' freedom of movement is often overlooked in market environments. This study aims to evaluate the ergonomic quality of market spaces to assess the comfort of traders' movement. As a focal point, the study examined Semat Sari Market, the largest traditional market in Tibubeneng Village, Bali. The market is noteworthy as it serves the needs of two villages, leading to bustling operations. Spatial analysis was employed to analyze the flow of movement of traders within their stalls during work and rest. The research revealed a disparity between the space required by traders and the available space, negatively impacting the productivity of their work. Additionally, this situation can have repercussions on the psychological and physical well-being of traders.

Abstract

Background: The reduction of green open spaces (RTH) in Indonesia’s urban areas has led to declining environmental quality and reduced potential for local food security. Tangerang Regency, with only 0.0137% of its area classified as RTH, faces serious challenges in providing productive spaces for its residents. Curug Kulon Urban Village exemplifies this green space crisis, where limited land has not been optimally utilized by the Melati Women Farmers Group (KWT). This community engagement program aims to increase land productivity and empower the local community by implementing modular vertical farming technology, drip irrigation systems, technical training, digital marketing, and educational activities. Method: The implementation methods include Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), hands-on training, the construction of vertical farming systems, and digital marketing assistance. Results: The results indicate a significant increase in the capacity of KWT members: more than 80% can now independently operate vertical farming systems, water-use efficiency has improved, and product promotion through social media is beginning to develop. In addition to the increased capacity of KWT members, local residents have begun participating in vertical farming through open training sessions. Furthermore, the tiered farming area serves as a micro RTH and an environmental learning space for the surrounding community. Conclusion: This program demonstrates that integrating simple technology with social and digital empowerment strategies can serve as a replicable urban farming model to optimize RTH in densely populated urban areas while simultaneously strengthening community food security.
