As a person ages, there is a tendency to decrease various functional capacities both at the cellular level and at the organ level which can lead to degeneration in line with the three aging processes. One of the degenerative diseases that are often suffered by the elderly is gout arthritis, which is an inflammatory joint disease, a factor that causes gout arthritis attacks, one of which is stress, stress is not only a stimulus or reaction but also an active factor that can affect stressors. This study aims to see the relationship between stress and the incidence of gout arthritis in the Botania Health Center Work Area, Batam City 2022. Method of this research is an analytical observational study with a case control design involving 60 respondents, with an elderly population at the Botania Health Center in 2022. Sampling using purposive sampling technique . The measuring instrument in this study was the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS 21) questionnaire and the “Medical Record” retrospective method. The results of study, most of the elderly who experience stress have a risk of developing gout. The results of the Chi-Square statistical test obtained a value (p value = 0.001 < 0.05), indicating that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted with an Odds Ratio of 6.417. The conclusion is that there is a significant relationship between stress and the incidence of gout arthritis. So implementing a healthy lifestyle with stress control can be a preventive measure against various diseases that can attack the elderly. Keywords: Degenerative diseases, Stress, Gout Arthritis, Elderly, analytical observational

Abstract

Dyspepsia is a symptom of the gastroduodenal digestive tract. These symptoms include a painful or burning sensation in the upper abdominal area, a feeling of fullness after eating, or feeling full quickly. The prevalence of dyspepsia in Batam City in 2024 will reach 7.806 people.Dyspepsia is caused by several influencing factors, including psychological factors, namely anxiety. Anxiety that lasts a long time and becomes chronic causes persistent activation effects and hyperactivation of the HPA axis, resulting in excessive cortisol production which can cause direct disturbances in the central nervous system, which innervates the stomach by stimulating the secretion of acetylcholine, gastrin and histamine which ultimately gives rise to complaints of dyspepsia. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between anxiety and the incidence of dyspepsia in Baloi Permai Subdistrict, Baloi Permai Health Center Working Area, Batam City in 2024. This research includes quantitative research with an analytical design with a cross sectional approach on 57 people affected by dyspepsia. The implementation period is 2 weeks starting from 14 October to 28 October 2024. Sample collection uses the Cluster Random Sampling Technique. The measuring instruments in this study used the Rome IV Criteria questionnaire and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (Dass 42). The research results showed that 26 people (45.6%) experienced moderate anxiety and 35 people (61.4%) experienced dyspepsia. The results of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed that there was a relationship between anxiety and the incidence of dyspepsia (p value = 0.001 < 0.05). It is hoped that the results of this research will allow sufferers and the public to make efforts to deal with the problems of dyspepsia and anxiety that occur, as well as becoming reference material for institutions and future researchers that excessive anxiety can cause dyspepsia. Keywords: Dyspepsia, Anxiety

Abstract

Abstract: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels resulting from insulin resistance or inadequate insulin production. One of the interventions to address increased blood glucose levels is reflexology massage therapy, a complementary therapy that serves as an alternative treatment approach. Reflexology massage therapy is a complementary intervention that integrates various nursing techniques, including relaxation, touch, and distraction techniques. The purpose of this study was to provide gerontological nursing care, a patient with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, through the application of foot reflexology massage therapy at Panti Werda Budi Sosial, Batam City. The method was a case study encompassing nursing diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the case study revealed a reduction in the patient’s blood glucose levels. After receiving foot reflexology massage therapy for three sessions of 30 minutes each over three consecutive mornings, the patient’s blood glucose levels decreased from 203 mg/dL on the first day, to 190 mg/dL on the second day, and 162 mg/dL on the third day. These findings indicate that foot reflexology massage therapy has a significant effect on lowering blood glucose levels and alleviating acute foot pain in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus Type II, Elderly, Foot Reflexology Massage
