Abstract

The aim of this research is to obtain an overview and explanation of the socio-cultural adaptation process of international students at Prince Songkla University, Pattani Campus. Apart from that, to explain students' academic achievements. This research is about socio-cultural adaptation and academic achievement of International Students at Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, using quantitative methods with a descriptive approach. In this research, the sample was determined using a saturated sampling technique, where this technique was chosen if all members of the population were used as the research sample. Because the population of this study was no more than 100, the researcher took the entire population as the research sample. So, the sample for this research is 41 International Students at PSU Pattani Campus. consisting of 36 international students and 5 international exchange students. For this research, a questionnaire will be used to carry out measurements using a Likert Scale. This research describes the socio-cultural adaptation process of international students at Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus. The results of this research show that there is a positive and significant influence between students' socio-cultural adaptation and the academic achievement of international students at PSU of 0.032 which means it is smaller than 0.05 (0.032 < 0.05) with a coefficient value of 0.543 which has a positive sign so it can be concluded that The hypothesis is accepted that socio-cultural adaptation can improve the academic achievement of international students at PSU.

Abstract

Losing a spouse is a deeply emotional and complex experience, especially for elderly women who often face psychological, social, and cultural challenges simultaneously. This study aims to explore the resilience dynamics of elderly widows after the loss of their husbands, focusing on how they manage emotions and rebuild their lives. Using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, the study involved four female participants aged 60 and above living in Tirta Buana Village. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and unstructured observations, then analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that these widows demonstrate high levels of resilience through strategies such as emotional regulation, impulse control, optimism, causal analysis, empathy, self-efficacy, and willingness to seek support. Internal factors such as spirituality and coping abilities, as well as external factors such as support from family and the community, significantly contributed to their recovery process. This research underscores the need for policies that are more sensitive to the psychosocial needs of widows and highlights the importance of creating supportive, stigma-free social spaces. The results are expected to serve as a foundation for further studies and the development of more holistic interventions aimed at improving the well-being of elderly widows.Kehilangan pasangan hidup merupakan pengalaman yang sangat emosional dan kompleks, terutama bagi wanita lanjut usia yang sering kali menghadapi tantangan psikologis, sosial, dan budaya secara bersamaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dinamika resiliensi janda lanjut usia pasca kehilangan suami, dengan fokus pada bagaimana mereka mengelola emosi dan membangun kembali kehidupan mereka. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi, melibatkan empat subjek berusia 60 tahun ke atas yang berdomisili di Desa Tirta Buana. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi tidak terstruktur, kemudian dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa para janda menunjukkan tingkat resiliensi yang tinggi melalui strategi seperti regulasi emosi, kontrol dorongan, optimisme, analisis sebab-akibat, empati, efikasi diri, serta kemauan untuk mencari dukungan. Faktor internal seperti spiritualitas dan kemampuan koping, serta faktor eksternal seperti dukungan keluarga dan komunitas, memainkan peran penting dalam mempercepat proses pemulihan. Penelitian ini mengindikasikan perlunya kebijakan yang lebih sensitif terhadap kebutuhan psikososial janda, serta pentingnya menciptakan ruang sosial yang suportif dan bebas stigma. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi landasan bagi studi lanjutan dan pengembangan intervensi yang lebih holistik untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan janda di usia lanjut.

Abstract

Migrant students often encounter substantial challenges when adapting to new academic and social environments, including cultural differences, language barriers, and unfamiliar social norms. These obstacles may hinder their psychological and social adjustment, making peer social support an essential factor in facilitating their adaptation. This study aims to examine the relationship between peer social support and self-adjustment among migrant students from South Sumatra studying in Yogyakarta.Using a quantitative correlational method, the study involved 105 South Sumatran students enrolled in various higher education institutions in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Participants were selected through purposive sampling, with the criteria of being active students who had studied for at least one year. Data were collected using a peer social support scale based on House’s theory (1981) and a self-adjustment scale based on Schneider’s theory (1999). Validity testing resulted in the exclusion of one item from the peer support scale and three items from the self-adjustment scale. Reliability testing using Cronbach’s Alpha produced coefficients of 0.917 for peer social support and 0.938 for self-adjustment.Correlation analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between peer social support and self-adjustment, with a correlation coefficient of 0.822 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that higher levels of peer social support are associated with better self-adjustment among migrant students. The study highlights the crucial role of peer relationships in supporting migrant students’ psychological well-being and academic adaptation in a new environment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara perilaku bullying dengan kecemasan pada siswa di SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Brondong. Fenomena bullying di lingkungan sekolah masih sering terjadi dan berdampak negatif terhadap kesejahteraan psikologis siswa, terutama dalam bentuk kecemasan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 136 siswa, dan sampel sebanyak 70 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria siswa berusia 15–18 tahun yang memiliki pengalaman menjadi korban bullying. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah skala perilaku bullying serta skala kecemasan. Analisis data menggunakan korelasi Spearman dengan bantuan SPSS 25 for Windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif yang signifikan antara perilaku bullying dengan kecemasan pada siswa (r = 0,546; p < 0,05). Hal ini berarti semakin tinggi perilaku bullying yang dialami siswa, semakin tinggi pula tingkat kecemasan yang dirasakan. Sumbangan efektif perilaku bullying terhadap kecemasan sebesar 47,2%, sedangkan sisanya 52,8% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain di luar penelitian ini. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya intervensi psikologis dan program pencegahan bullying di lingkungan sekolah untuk menurunkan tingkat kecemasan siswa.
