Abstract

This research aims to develop denotative and connotative meanings in sayyid El-Rais' videos, as well as reveal myths based on Barthes's perspective. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. Data collection technique used observation and taking notes technique. Researchers used descriptive analysis techniques based on the Miles and Huberman model are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that reading of first level in semiotics perspective produced several codes that referred to text structure including; symbolic, semantic, and hermeneutic. Denotatively, the speech in video reflect outpouring of a Palestinian child about incidents that happened to him, called deprived homeland. The second level reading that refers to code development resulted in a myth of religious tolerance. In connotative meaning, there are portraits of religious intolerance that are carried in these stories. This speech presents as religious intolerance representation felt by the Palestinian people so that the author's message that can be taken through this portraits is able to increase awareness of religious tolerance and empathy for others as humanity form

Abstract

This research aims to reveal audiences reflection about propaganda of Palestine Liberation that presented through nationalism value  in film wathani al-ghali based on Stuart Hall Perspective. This research is  decriptive qualitative. The subject of this research are 40 students of Arabic  Languange and Literature in UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim by purposive sampling based on curent criteria. The results of this research showed that actualization of  nationalism value in film wathani al-ghali are about 18 in various form as  propaganda of Palestine Liberation. Those actualization are blatant uprising,  being killed for Palestine’s defenses, fooling the Israeli army and attacking  them. Audience receptions for the representation nationalism value in the film  interpreted into a reflection of propaganda of Palestine Liberation. Percentage  of audiences are 78% are in dominant hegemony position, 22% are in  negoitation position, and no ocucupies for the opposition. Some underlying  factors are background knowledge that related to Palestinian conflict, simple  flow, and also getting much moral values from the film.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the patterns of modernization criticism, the factor emerging critics, and the impact of modernization in Layali Turkistan's novel according to Adorno's perspective. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach methodology by obtaining the primary data from Layali Turkistan novel and gaining the secondary data from other references. The data were collected through reading and noting. Moreover, the writer employed triangulation to test the data validity. Meanwhile, Milles and Huberman's model was used to analyze the data. The writer revealed that: 1) The patterns of modernization critics in Layali Turkistan's novel are on modernization's behalf; in which Russian and Chinese have set aside their sense of humanity, such as tolerance and respect. 2) The emerging critics of modernization are religiosity, science, and technology development. 3) The impacts of modernization are humanity, morality, spiritual crisis, and natural resource ownership segregation.

Abstract

political polemic and crisis in Beirut has been marked by various actions. The emergence of public aspirations led to tragedy. The occurring of bomb incident as a result of building burning that contained 2,750 tons of Ammonium Nitrate. It can be concrete evidence that freedom in Beirut is at stake. This tragedy caused 100 victims were died and thousands people were injured. This phenomenon made many society from aroun the world contribute to express Beirut’s freedom including Josep Harb through his poetry entitle “li Beirut”. This study aims to describe nationalism form in li Beirut poetry based on Norman Fairclough’s theory, and show its impact on natinalism’s reader as literary connoisseurs. This study is a qualitative descriptive that came from li Beirut poetry by Joseph Harb and supported by related literatures. Data collection are coming from reading and taking notes techniques. Analysis techniques are based on Miles and Huberman model that contained data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that portrait of nationalism in li Beirut poetry are expressions of love and praising for Beirut, also compassions and hopes for Beirut. The impact that has an effect on readers' nationalism is an attitude of prioritizing unity and brotherhood, as well as an optimistic attitude to improve the nation.
