Abstract

The results of a survey on students in a university in Kediri found the fact that students are still confused and do not have any idea about their future careers even though the study period is almost complete. This might be because they lack knowledge about career options that are appropriate to their field of study, feel less confident about their abilities, lack self-awareness related to their potential, and do not yet know how to prepare themselves for the work world. These phenomena illustrate the lack of student career maturity. This condition might cause an increase in the unemployment rate or job mismatch. Against this backdrop, we designed and implemented strategies to overcome these problems using a Cognitive Information Processing approach. In particular, we conducted Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with students, implemented career counselling, and carried out career socialization. This research used a pre-experimental design, particularly a one-group pretest and posttest design. The result shows that students experienced a significant increase in their career maturity. Students now have a better picture of career options that match their educational background, have short-term and long-term planning related to career readiness after completing education and have confidence in their abilities or potential.

Abstract

Social interactions in the workplace play a pivotal role in shaping the work culture and influencing organizational productivity and success. Particularly, the relationship between superiors and subordinates holds the potential for creating hegemonic behaviors, where superiors utilize their experience and knowledge to influence subordinates. This research aims to delve deeper into the processes, forms, levels, and impacts of hegemonic behaviors within the work culture of employees at the Department X in Kediri District, with a focus on the positive perspective of Antonio Gramsci's theory. This study adopts a qualitative approach and a case study research design. Information is obtained from two informants, a superior and a subordinate, through interviews and observations. Data is analyzed through method triangulation, involving raw data collection, data reduction, data interpretation, data analysis, and drawing conclusions. The research findings indicate that hegemonic behavior evolves through the demonstration of intellectual and moral leadership by superiors, subsequently gaining the approval of subordinates regarding the dominance of superiors. Forms of hegemonic behavior encompass aspects of intellectual and moral leadership, approval, and domination. The identified level of hegemony suggests a "declining hegemony." The impact of hegemonic behavior includes positive changes in work processes, ethics, communication, and power utilization. This study reinforces the understanding of the dynamics of relationships between superiors and subordinates in the workplace and their implications for work culture. It also provides a foundation for improving the work environment and fostering more harmonious inter-employee relationships.

Abstract

Thesis completion is a crucial final stage in undergraduate students' academic journey. During this process, students often face psychological pressure that affects their mental health. This study aims to determine the relationship between spiritual intelligence and adversity quotient with the mental health of final-year students. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational design, and the sampling technique applied was random sampling. The data were analyzed using product moment correlation and multiple linear regression to test both minor and major hypotheses. The results show a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.864. The significance value of F. Change is 0.000, which indicates 0.000 0.05, meaning that spiritual intelligence and adversity quotient are significantly related to mental health. The significance test also shows that the values of F. Change and F. count are greater than F. table, namely 255.581 3.040. These results confirm that the major hypothesis is accepted, and there is a positive relationship between spiritual intelligence and adversity quotient with students' mental health. This finding highlights the importance of strengthening both resilience and spiritual intelligence as part of student support strategies during thesis completion.

Abstract

This study examines the life of KH Dauglas Toha Yahya (Gus Lik) as a contemporary expression of non-institutional social Sufism in Indonesia. Over the past two decades, the rise of symbolic religiosity, the popularity of celebrity preachers, and the commodification of religion have created a gap between outward religious expressions and substantive forms of social piety. This study aims to explain how Gus Lik’s everyday practices present an alternative model of religiosity rooted in simplicity, social proximity, and service to the community. Using a qualitative design and a historical–hermeneutic framework, the study draws on in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using content and thematic analysis. The main findings identify three central patterns: first, Sufi asceticism (zuhud), manifested in a minimalist lifestyle, rejection of wealth and privileges, and closeness to marginalized groups; second, ta’dzim toward one’s teacher, which forms moral ethos, emotional discipline, and non-institutional charismatic authority; and third, khidmah (social service), reflected in direct engagement with the community, the formation of horizontal solidarity, and the creation of inclusive religious spaces. The study’s implications indicate that these Sufi values can play a significant role in strengthening social cohesion, offering critique against the commodification of spirituality, and presenting a model of religious leadership grounded in ethical exemplarity. The originality of this study lies in its systematic mapping of a contemporary Sufi figure who has received limited scholarly attention, as well as the formulation of a typology of “social Sufism” as a theoretical contribution to religious studies in Southeast Asia.
