Abstract

PDAM Tirta Musi Palembang is a regional company engaged in the supply of clean water, especially in the Palembang area. The company still has not implemented the warehousing method properly. This is indicated by the presence of material with the highest frequency of picking placed far from the entrance and exit of the warehouse, the occurrence of long queues when picking up material for a unit in the warehouse, the aisle is used as the placement of goods, the labeling of materials is uneven, and placing goods in the area empty without regard to entry and exit. For this reason, it is necessary to improve the layout of the warehouse using the ABC Class-Based Storage method. The use of this method is based on the ease of managing the movement of goods in/out based on the frequency of movement of goods. Based on the results of data processing carried out, the grouping of materials using ABC analysis was obtained, namely Class A (HDPE Pipe, Sealtape, Elbow PE, Ferulle, Knee GS, and PVC Glue), Class B (Foucet Elbow and Knee PVC) and Class C (PVC Pipe, Clam Saddle, Box Meter, GS Pipe, and PVC Headlight). The Material Handling costs incurred in the proposed layout amounted to IDR 45,910687 (61.64% savings) which reduced the total distance by 66.30%. Abstract

Abstract

A dry port is established as an inland extension of a port. Tanjung Intan Port, which is located in Cilacap and within the range of tsunami risk zones, has no dry port to accommodate its distant customers. This research proposes a dry port location selection for Tanjung Intan Port with the following main criteria: safer from tsunami risks and achieve maximal demand coverage. By applying AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process), the location candidates were ranked and further selected using MCLP (Maximum Coverage Location Problem) to choose the best candidate. The study result selects Maos railway station as the most attractive dry port location. The feasibility study result shows that the location has: (1) a lower risk of tsunami impact, (2) potential for the port’s market expansion, (3) less pollution potential, (4) adequate railway tracks, (5) large area, (6) good location away from densely populated areas and, (7) easy access for trucks.

Abstract

PT Inalum is a company specializing in aluminum production, focusing on smelting business and raw material development into aluminum. Annually, PT Inalum produces approximately 250 thousand tons of aluminum. The procurement of primary raw materials plays a significant role in its production chain. Delay in the delivery of primary raw materials can hinder aluminum production. The aim of this research is to identify the risks that may affect the arrival of primary raw materials at PT Inalum and to develop mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of these risks. The research method used is the House of Risk, consisting of two phases. The first phase involves identifying potential risk events that may affect the arrival of primary raw materials, as well as the involved risk agents. The second phase involves determining the relationship between risk events and risk agents, as well as developing mitigation strategies based on the highest risk ranking. From this research, 35 risk events and 21 risk agents that may affect the arrival of primary raw materials at PT Inalum have been identified. Furthermore, through the analysis of House of Risk phase 2, 7 recommendations for mitigation actions with the highest ranking were obtained, including budget monitoring, inventory management improvement, and enhancement of procurement and logistics procedures. The findings of this research can be implemented in the procurement of primary raw materials at PT Inalum to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of aluminum production delays.

Abstract

PT XYZ is an e-commerce company which offers an electronic buying and selling platform for a wide variety of products from many sellers to buyers. As an industry engaged in the commercial sector, logistics has a vital role in shipping goods from upstream to downstream to meet consumer desires. However, conditions in the field are not always in accordance with the plans. Lost or damaged goods during delivery or at the Warehouse are a frequent problem. PT XYZ, through its XYZ Logistics team, implements a claims system for replacing items lost or damaged during the operational process. Currently, the claim submission system is done manually via email. This manual claim system creates many problems due to the lack of proper coordination between stakeholders. Therefore, this study proposed a solution with a lean six sigma approach using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) method. The solution offered to improve PT XYZ's claim system is to design an automated claim system using a website-based application. After implementing a website-based application to automate the XYZ logistics claim process, it was proved that the company was able to reduce lead time by up to 60% from initial conditions, up to 33% of stakeholder workload, and improve data security and real-time supervision.
