Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the reliability of mobile phone vibrations in detecting peripheral neuropathy in diabetic foot wound patients between the nurse and the patient's family. The design of this study was a pilot study with a cross sectional study approach. The study was conducted on 37 respondents in four wound care clinics in Makassar City and its surroundings. The instrument used is a mobile phone vibration using the vibrations-test application. Interater reliability analysis test used cohen's kappa test. The results showed that 67.6% of the patients did not feel the vibrations of the mobile phones performed by the nurses, while 70.3% of the patients did not feel the vibrations of the cellphones carried out by the family. Interrater reliability examination of diabetic feet using a mobile phone vibration shows an almost perfect agreement, namely (k = 0.973). The reliability of mobile phone vibrations using the vibrations-test application is quantitatively reliable. Thus, mobile phone vibrations can be used as an alternative screening tool to detect neuropathy in Diabetes Mellitus patients in the community.

Abstract

The American Diabetes Association's "Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes" that for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) screening can use 10 gram Semmes Weinstein Monofilament (SWM) tests, temperature, puncture sensations. This study aims to evaluate vibration sensations in detecting peripheral neuropathy in patients DM. The design of this study was a literature review and was prepared based on the 2009 PRISMA guidelines checklist. Literature search was carried out with the keyword "diabetes mellitus AND vibration AND peripheral neuropathy". The databases used are PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Google Scholar, and DOAJ which have been reported in English for the past eight years. There were 9 articles included in this study using cross sectional design, quasi experiment, and cohort study. 3 studies evaluated VibraTip, each 1 article evaluating Mobile Vibration, Neuropad, NerveChek, VSA-3000, and 1 article comparing ESC with VPT. From the results of the assessment in the inclusion article it was found that vibration can be significantly used to detect peripheral neuropathy in patients DM. The findings from this review indicate that vibration is very useful for detecting peripheral neuropathy.

Abstract

Background  Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are one of the causes of morbidity and mortality in children in poor and developing countries. Various factors trigger the high incidence of ARI, both the environment, congenital, and the knowledge of the public who still do not understand how to prevent ARI, especially mothers as child caregivers. Method This study describes the problem of ARI with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was 50 mothers who had children aged 5-12 years. Determination of the sample using a purposive sampling technique.   Research data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results  The study reveals an average maternal age of 31.8 years and a child age of 5.94 years. Most mothers completed high school or have a bachelor's degree. Maternal knowledge significantly impacts the incidence of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARIs) in children. Targeted educational interventions are needed to improve child health outcomes and reduce ARI burden. Conclusion  The study reveals a significant link between maternal knowledge of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) management and the incidence of ARI in children in Wolo Village, with lower knowledge levels resulting in higher incidences.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by a lack of insulin production or by ineffective insulin production. This causes an increase in the concentration of glucose in the blood (hyperglycemia), a condition that damages many of the body's systems, especially the blood vessels and nerves. To determine the impact of providing digital-based diabetic neurophaty complication prevention education.  This type of research is quantitative with a research design, namely quasi-experimental using a one group pre-post test design approach. The sample size in this study was 25 respondents, using purposive sampling as the sampling technique. The data analysis used is the Paried T-test. From the results of statistical tests using the paired t test, it can be seen that the results of the post and pre-test with a significance of 0.000, which means p <α (0.05) where the value of p <α means that it can be concluded that there is an influence in providing Education for Prevention of Complications of Diabetic Neuropathy Based Digital. The results of this study can be used as input for health institutions in providing education on diabetic foot exercises as a non-pharmacological therapy to reduce blood sugar levels and prevent complications of neuropathy, especially in people with diabetes mellitus.
