Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes Mellitus is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world, occurring when insulin production in the pancreas is insufficient or when insulin cannot be used effectively by the body, so blood sugar levels exceed the normal range. High blood glucose levels can create nursing problems related to peripheral disorders and result in complications of peripheral neuropathy. Physical exercise is a basic principle that can be done to prevent peripheral arterial disease in diabetes mellitus patients. One of the exercises is the Bueger Allen Exercise. Objective: The aim of writing this scientific work is to conduct an analysis of nursing care for type 2 DM patients using the Burger Allen Exercise intervention to prevent peripheral neuropathy complications in the work area of the Sabbangparu District Health Center. Wajo. Method: Using a descriptive method in the form of a case study using a nursing process approach starting from assessment, diagnosis, planning, nursing actions and evaluation of action results. Conclusion: The results of the analysis of nursing care for type II DM patients with peripheral perfusion nursing problems were ineffective through the application of the Buerger Allen exercise combination intervention and showed that the nursing problems for Mr. B were partially resolved. Measurement of Mr. B's GDS levels showed that the results had decreased, but the results were still in the range of hyperglycemia, the ABI patients also showed changes. When examined, the patient stated that the patient no longer feels tightness and stiffness. Pale skin color decreases, the acral feels warm. So this Buerger Allen Exercise intervention can be used as independent treatment to prevent complications of peripheral neuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes Mellitus is a degenerative disease, if not treated properly it can have a negative impact on complications in various organ systems in the body (Syahid, 2021). One of the complications of diabetes that often occurs is neuropathy (nerve damage) in the feet which increases the incidence of foot ulcers, infections and even the need for foot amputation (Sianipar, 2023). The aim of this research is to prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SPO) for the implementation of EBNP regarding Diabetic Sensorimotor Polyneuropathy (DSPN) Screening in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients. The number of respondents involved in implementing this EBNP was 14 people. In the implementation of EBNP, Diabetic Sensorimotor Polyneuropathy (DSPN) screening was carried out using the mTSN (Modified Toronto Clinic Score Neuropathy) instrument which aims to assess whether there are symptoms of neuropathy and no symptoms of neuropathy. DSPN screening is carried out based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Based on the results of the two instrument tests between mTCSN and mNSI-E using the undercurve test, it can be concluded that the mTCSN instrument has a higher sensitivity value with a value of 0.909, while the sensitivity value for the mNSI-E instrument is smaller than the mTCSN instrument with a value of 0.571. So, to screen for neuropathy it is more effective to use the mTCSN instrument because the sensitivity score is higher.

Abstract

A 2020 engineering report from the WHO states that periodontal disease affects almost 10% of the population worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest more specific data on periodontal disease from Riskesdes 2018 shows the prevalence of periodontitis at 74.1% in Indonesia. Periodontal disease is an inflammatory condition that occurs due to bacterial biofilms on the surface of the teeth, and is one of the main causes of tooth loss due to damage to periodontal tissue that cannot be healed. One of the things that often happens in daily life and has the potential to damage the gingival tissue is the use of toothpicks that are done roughly, too often, or not as recommended. The habit of using toothpicks to clean food residue between teeth is quite common. However, if a toothpick is used in the wrong way, especially one that has a rounded cross-section and does not fit the shape of the gums, it can cause mechanical injury to the gums. The purpose of the study was to determine the frequency of toothpick use affecting gingival health. The type of research uses quantitative descriptive, which is a type of research that uses directly reviewed field data to solve current problems. The research time is from June to July 2025. The research population was 100 people in Siduntung Hamlet. Sampling is known as sampling based on consideration. A sample of 30 respondents was taken, which was adjusted to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of a study in Siduntung Hamlet, Ongkoe Village, Belawa District, Wajo Regency show that the use of toothpicks has an impact on gingival health. The frequency of toothpick use is associated with the level of gingival inflammation, the more often it is used, the higher the risk of inflammation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) is a progressive degeneration of peripheral nerves, particularly in the lower extremities, affecting sensory, motor, and autonomic components of the peripheral nervous system. DPN is a highly prevalent complication among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and has a significant negative impact on quality of life. This study aimed to evaluate the synergistic effectiveness of a web-based foot and ankle muscle exercise program on functional capacity, peripheral circulation, and diabetic peripheral neuropathy symptoms in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study employed a mixed-methods design. (1) The first phase was a qualitative study using focus group discussions (FGD) with three experts to validate program content and its acceptability among respondents. (2) The second phase used a quantitative approach with a randomized controlled trial (RCT) and a pre-test–post-test design. The analysis of pre-test and post-test scores demonstrated significant differences across all instruments (MNSI-E, ABI, and FHSQ). The web-based Kinaku.id video exercise program effectively reduced peripheral neuropathy symptoms, improved peripheral circulation, and enhanced foot health outcomes compared to baseline. The effectiveness of this program is attributed to the advantages of web-based video media, which is more interactive, easily accessible, and promotes better patient adherence compared to conventional printed leaflets. Therefore, this intervention can serve as an effective and innovative strategy for managing diabetic foot complications in primary healthcare settings. Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus, Neuropathy, MNSI-E, ABI, FHSQ.
