Abstract

Aggressive behavior is behavior that is manifested in the form of destroying objects or attacking other people verbally or non-verbally. This research tested the effectiveness of the Rational Emotive Behavior Education Model in reducing aggressive behavior in 36 class XI students at SMKN 2 Tasikmalaya. The selected students had high levels of aggressive behavior based on the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ) scale. The experimental study with Time Series Design was conducted for 5 weeks, with one REBE intervention session per week for 40-60 minutes. The results showed a significant decrease in overall aggressive behavior scores from pre-intervention (M = 104.35) to post-intervention (M = 84.94). A significant decrease was also observed in the scores of each dimension of aggressive behavior, namely physical (29.93 to 24.42), verbal (17.68 to 14.24), anger (25.94 to 21.25), and hostility (30.49 to 24.64). These results indicate that REBE is effective in reducing aggressive behavior in students, helping them to think rationally, reducing emotional disturbances, increasing self-understanding, developing more adaptive coping strategies, and improving self-concept and sense of responsibility.

This study used a single case study design with an ABA approach. The subject of the study was a 12th grade high school student in Tasikmalaya who was identified as part of the LGBT group and showed feminine behavior. The ego state counseling intervention was carried out for 5 sessions, with a duration of 45-60 minutes per session. The measuring instruments used were the Bem Sex Role Inventory (BSRI) to measure gender awareness and the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) to measure the dimensions of mental well-being. The results showed that the ego state counseling intervention was effective in increasing gender awareness in the subjects. There was a significant increase in the masculine score (d = 1.84) and a significant decrease in the feminine score (d = 3.55). The dimensions of mental well-being also showed a significant increase, especially in social well-being (d = 2.45). This study contributes to guidance and counseling services by demonstrating the potential of ego state counseling as an effective intervention to increase gender awareness and mental health in gay adolescents. These findings may assist counselors in developing more specific and targeted intervention strategies to help gay adolescent construct healthier gender identities and achieve better mental well-being.

The results revealed that the persistence of 2015 students was in high category with a percentage of 77.33%. The number of final-level students in the high category of 85% or 121 students, in addition there were 14% or 20 students who belonged to the medium category and 1% or 1 student was in the low category. This indicates that in general, the senior students at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Tasikmalaya have demonstrated maximum persistence in each dimension, including having high desire and awareness to pursue their goals, doing hard effort sustainably, instilling persistent character in resolving the problems, as well as the students can survive and move forward despite the challenges and difficulties in achieving their objectives.
