Abstract

Abstract

The numeracy skills of prospective elementary school teachers remain relatively low and are often not contextualized with relevant local values in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a mathematics textbook infused with Mpu Kuturan's values in improving numeracy skills among prospective elementary school teachers. A quasi-experimental design was employed, using a nonequivalent group pretest-posttest model. The research subjects consisted of 56 PGSD students who were enrolled in the Mathematics Education course. Data were collected using a validated numeracy test and analyzed quantitatively through t-tests. The results showed an increase in the average numeracy score from 62.45 (pretest) to 81.23 (posttest), with the t-test indicating a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), confirming a statistically significant improvement. These findings indicate that integrating local values into mathematics teaching materials enhances not only cognitive aspects but also reinforces relevant cultural values in the learning process. This study recommends the development of contextual learning materials based on local wisdom as an innovative strategy in teacher education.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the problem that students' mathematics learning outcomes, particularly in decimal number topics, remain unsatisfactory due to monotonous learning models and low engagement. This study was conducted to analyze whether there is a significant effect between students who receive treatment through the Articulate Storyline Assisted PjBL model and students who receive treatment through the conventional PjBL model. This quasi-experimental study used a pre-test post-test control group design and involved 186 fourth-grade students from elementary schools in Banjar District. Random sampling was applied to select 27 students from Grade IV Elementary School as the experimental group, and 15 students from Grade IV B of Banjar 2 Elementary School as the control group. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. Statistical analysis using the t-test revealed that among the 32 students tested, the calculated t-value was 7.074, while the t-table value was 1.683. Therefore, it can be concluded that H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted, indicating a significant difference between the two groups.

Abstract

The lack of innovative and contextual media in science instruction at the elementary level contributes to low student learning outcomes and scientific attitudes. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of interactive digital comic media on learning outcomes and scientific attitudes in science learning among fourth-grade elementary students. A quasi-experimental design was employed with control and experimental groups. The sample consisted of 55 students divided into two groups: the experimental group used digital comic media, while the control group used conventional teaching materials. Instruments included a science achievement test and a scientific attitude questionnaire. Data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test. The results showed that the use of digital comics significantly improved student learning outcomes (t = 5.216; p < 0.05) and scientific attitudes (t = 4.881; p < 0.05). The study concludes that interactive digital comic media is effective in enhancing conceptual understanding and fostering scientific attitudes among students. Its implication is that teachers can adopt digital comics as an engaging and contextually relevant instructional alternative in elementary science education.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the needs analysis of the mathematics learning outcomes test characterized by HOTS (higher-order thinking skills) in the form of multiple-choice for fifth-grade students in Singaraja City, Buleleng Regency, Bali Province. This research was conducted at several elementary schools in the city of Singaraja. The study population was all elementary school mathematics teachers in Singaraja City. The sample used was a purposive sample, that was, by determining respondents from selected schools based on several characteristics. These characteristics were A) inside and outside the city, B) favorite and non-favorite, C) public and private, and D) public and Muslim. The samples obtained were 7 (seven) elementary schools. The data collection method was a questionnaire method. The questionnaire in this study produced both quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data in the form of nominal data from responses “yes” and “no”, while qualitative data in the form of comments based on responses “yes” or “no” provided. This was done by researchers in order to draw stronger and more complete conclusions. Quantitative data analysis techniques used descriptive statistics, while qualitative data analysis techniques use descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the study, it could be concluded that the teacher requires an elementary mathematics learning achievement test characterized by HOTS. The results of this study were used to develop a mathematics learning outcomes test characterized by HOTS in the form of multiple choice.
