Abstract

The issue of low student motivation in early childhood science education courses has become a major concern in improving the quality of higher education, particularly in Early Childhood Teacher Education (PGPAUD) programs. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Quantum Learning model integrated with character values in enhancing students’ learning motivation. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The participants consisted of 60 PGPAUD students at STAHN Mpu Kuturan Singaraja enrolled in the early childhood science course. The sample was randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group that received instruction through the Quantum Learning model with embedded character values (n=30), and a control group that received conventional instruction (n=30). A validated learning motivation scale was used as the research instrument. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The results revealed a significant difference in posttest motivation scores between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.001), with a Partial Eta Squared value of 0.843, indicating a large effect size. Meanwhile, pretest scores did not significantly affect posttest outcomes (p > 0.103). It can be concluded that the Quantum Learning model integrated with character values is effective in increasing students’ learning motivation. These findings imply the importance of incorporating character education into instructional models to improve the quality of future early childhood educators.

This study aims to determine the strategy of Pelita Sari Kindergarten teachers in developing early childhood creativity during the pandemic. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study describe the strategies of Pelita Sari Kindergarten teachers in developing early childhood creativity during the pandemic. The strategies used by the teacher are more and consistently use the strategy of developing creativity through creating products (hasta work). Through real work, not only creativity will develop, but cognitive abilities will also be well facilitated. Children will use their imagination to form a certain building or object according to their imagination in craft activities. In their manufacture they use a variety of different materials can use materials that are easily found. Every child is free to express their creativity, so we will get different results from one child to another.

Abstract

Low learning engagement occurs in every level of education; this is a concern in improving the quality of education, especially at the tertiary level in the cognitive development method course for Early Childhood Education (AUD). This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Windows Shopping learning strategy combined with the Mind Mapping technique in improving student learning engagement. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects of the study were 50 students taking the cognitive development method course for Early Childhood Education (AUD). The sample was divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received learning using Windows Shopping assisted by Mind Mapping, and the control group was taught using conventional learning methods. The instrument used was a validated observation sheet. Data analysis was carried out using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The results of the analysis showed that there was an effect of using the Windows Shopping strategy assisted by Mind Mapping, significantly increasing learning engagement compared to conventional learning methods. The implications of these results indicate the importance of implementing the Windows Shopping learning strategy assisted by visual Mind Mapping to increase student engagement in the learning process.
