This study employed pretest-posttest one group design using purposive sampling to derive 100 respondents as the sample which conducted from February 2016 to July 2017. The result of the analysis reveals the average score on before sex education provision is 15.67 and after the education accomplished is 24.74. Further, the result of the T-test obtains p-value = 0.00 (p<0.05). This finding indicates a significance difference on the average score on before and after the sex education provision. Therefore, it can be concluded that providing sex education for the students helps a lot in increasing the understanding and knowledge levels of students about sex.

Abstract

The Kundur Barat Health Centre apparently was noticed due to its high anemia incidence rate in 2017 which happened to 29.1% pregant women, this number is the second highest rate of anemia in Karimun occurred on mothers with hemoglobin (Hb) level of 9 g/dl at their first visit. The study aims to determine the impact of green spinach (Amaranthus sp) consumption on the average escalation of Hb levels on pregnant mothers with light anemia syndrome at Kundur Barat Health Centre of Karimun conducted from March to July 2018. Anemia in pregnancy happens as a condition of the mothers with hemoglobin below 11g/dl. The most common cause of anemia in pregnancy is iron deficiency which possibly triggers pregnant women to get a miscarriage, premature birth, bleeding before and during childbirth, and in severe anemia, it can cause maternal and infant death. One alternative to meet iron requirements is to routinely consume food with high iron (Fe), for instance spinach. This research is a quantitative research with quasy experiment of one group pretest and posttest research design to 34 respondents. The result shows the pretest mean score = 9.65 and posttest mean score = 12.48. On the other hand, the Paired-Sample T-Test confirms a significant difference on before and after consumption of green spinach (Amaranthus sp) of mean score = 2.83 with p value <0.0000 (p > 0.05).  Lastly, it is hoped that pregnant women to consume green spinach (Amarantus sp) as an alternative to increase their Hb levels.

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is known as the top-ranked infectious disease that cause death in human with high probability of mortality and incidence. In fact, HIV requires a long diagnosis as well as therapy. Nowadays, Indonesia becomes the fifth country in Asia with the highest risk of HIV/AIDS. This study aims to determine the impact of information provision to the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about HIV examination. This study used a pre-experimental research design with one group pretest-posttest only approach conducted at the working area of Meral Health Center from May to July 2018. The population of this study was all pregnant women and 92 respondents were selected as the sample using quota sampling technique. The result shows the mean score of pregnant mothers’ knowledge level of pre-test 66.37 and post-test 82.22, meanwhile, the mean score for pregnant women’s attitude of  pre-test 74.22 and post-test 80.61. On the other hand, statistical test using Paired T-Test shows difference of mean score for pre-test and post-test on knowledge variable is 15.85 with p value = 0.000 (<0.05). Whereas, the difference of mean score between pre-test and post-test for attitude variable is 6.39 with p value = 0.000 (<0.05). In conclusion, there is a significant impact of information assistance on knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about HIV examination at the Meral Health Centre. Finally, it is hoped that the result of this study can be utilized as evaluation material particularly for reproductive health programs.

Abstract

The information on benefits of clinical baby massage is not well-spread among our general society. More often than not, many still relegate the baby massage job to a witchdoctor because of lack of awareness of instead trusting the practice in the hand of medical professionals. A mother must be well-educated in doing the baby massage practice before she can later self-perform the job. This research aims to discover the impact of advocating clinical baby massage on the mother’s conduct in self-performing the practice. The research employs pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest one group setting. It took place in BPM (independent practice midwife) Walladatun Islah. The sample population is the mothers visiting the BPM for vaccination. Data collecting technique employs total sampling involving 30 respondents. Data collecting instruments are leaflets and video for independent variable, and observation sheet by check-listing for dependent variable. Data analyzing technique employs paired sample t-test. The findings reveal that from the bivariate test using Kolgomorov-Smirnov method, out of 30 respondents, significant ρ-value = 0.200 > 0.05 indicates both variables’ distributions are normal to proceed to the t-test. The value from both pretest and posttest is 16.603 with significance level of 0.000, indicating it is bigger than t-table (16.603 > 2.045) therefore the hypothesis of the research is tolerable. In conclusion, there is a strong relevance between the advocacy of practicing clinical baby massage and the mother’s conduct in self-performing the job. In suggestion, healthcare workers and professionals are expected to be more active in advocating both pregnant and postpartum women the benefits of clinical baby massage for example during the antenatal care class or visit.

Abstract

In pregnancy globally that is equal to (35-75%). WHO also noted that (40%) maternal deaths in developing countries are related to chronic energy deficiency. Pregnant women who suffer from malnutrition such as chronic lack of energy have a greater risk of illness and therefore malnutrition in pregnant women should be avoided so that pregnant women are a target group that needs special attention. The countries that experienced the highest incidence of CED in pregnant women were Bangladesh (47%), while Indonesia was the fourth largest with prevalence (35.5%) and Thailand with the lowest prevalence (15–25%). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Upper Arm Circumference (LILA) and Birth Weight of Babies in the Work Area of the Sei Langkai Health Center Batam City in 2020. This study was a Case Control (Retrospective) study, the research site was in the Sei Langkai Health Center Work Area Batam City from the month August-September 2020, the study population was mothers who were recorded to have given birth in the Work Area of the Sei Langkai Health Center, Batam City in June 2020. Sampling using the Total sampling technique, the number of samples was 61 respondents, the instrument used for the independent variable and the dependent variable was using a checklist. used is chi-square analysis. Bivariate results, from 61 respondents, the results obtained showed that respondents who had an Upper Arm Circumference (LILA) <23.5 cm as many as 4 respondents (6.6%) gave birth to babies with birth weight <2500 grams (LBW) 4 (6 ,6%). While respondents who have an Upper Arm Circumference (LILA) 23.5 cm as many as 57 (93.4%) gave birth to babies with a birth weight of 2500-4000 grams (Normal) 57 (93.4%). The results of the statistical test with Chi-Square obtained p value = 0.000 <0.05 it can be concluded that Ho is rejected, meaning that there is a Relationship between Upper Arm Circumference (LILA) and Infant Birth Weight in the Work Area of the Sei Langkai Health Center Batam City in 2020. Suggestions to It is hoped that the research location can improve the service system, especially in the MCH room and for health workers to provide better services such as reminding mothers to always meet their nutritional needs, especially during pregnancy so that mothers do not experience malnutrition which can cause chronic energy deficiency (KEK) and can affect growth and development of the fetus, causing the risk of giving birth to babies with low birth weight (LBW).
