Abstract

Pubic speaking is an individual skill that is a necessity in the current era of disruption. Public speaking skills are needed to support the best results in education, the social environment, and the workplace. But not everyone is able to do public speaking well. Previous research states that the condition is caused by excessive fear of individuals to speak in front of the crowd (glossophobia). The objectives of this training are (1) to open students' horizons about public speaking; (2) arousing student motivation so as not to worry about public speaking; and (3) train students practically to be able to practice public speaking in everyday life. This training uses three stages, namely, pre-training research, lectures and discussions, and the practice of public speaking. The results of the training provide practical public speaking techniques to students with a simple concept known as POBC namelyPlanning, Opening, the Body of Speech, and Conclusion and mind mapping. This method is considered to make it easier for students to do public speaking systematically from planning to closing interesting speeches.

Abstract

The utilization of big data is still not very popular in Indonesia, especially among communication researchers. In reality, big data is beneficial for effective and efficient data collection, which can facilitate researchers in obtaining data. Big data in communication studies has garnered significant interest from both academics and business professionals in recent years. This paper is a literature review with a traditional conceptual approach. The primary data in this writing consists of previous research journals discussing the opportunities and challenges of big data in social studies, which were subjectively selected by the researcher. The study results indicate that the opportunity of using big data as a method in communication research is to facilitate data collection and a broader examination of communication contexts related to media and technology, such as sentiment analysis in political communication, image analysis in organizational communication, consumer needs analysis in marketing communication, and predictive analysis in disaster communication. Challenges that arise include data accountability, especially in evaluating sentiment, opinions, and images through mass media. Furthermore, the statistical nature of big data raises doubts about data accuracy. However, these shortcomings can be optimized with competent human resources and integrated, standardized big data support tools provided by the government and relevant stakeholders. Keywords: Big data, Communication, Opportunities, Challenges.

Abstract

Turnover is a situation when an employee decides to exit and is no longer involved with the company. The increase in turnover percentage that occurs in Indonesia needs attention because it can have an impact on both the individuals and companies involved. This research seeks to explore this phenomenon by conducting in-depth interviews with two sources with experience of more than three company turnovers uses the theory of socialization process and exit process from Miller, Jablin and Putnam. The results of this research state that success in the socialization process can reduce employee turnover intention, including through collecting in-depth information by relevant individuals, disclosure of information and organizing training or mentoring programs by the company. This can minimize culture shock that occurs, minimize individual expectations of the company and vice versa, build an environment that tends to be comfortable, make it easier for employees and the company to assimilate, and increase employee commitment so that it can reduce employee turnover.

Abstract

Abstract

Management in communication is still very minimally practiced, in fact, not only does management require communication but communication also requires management. Management is not just an entity that requires communication, but communication itself also requires a management process to run more effectively. Previous research has mostly examined how communication plays a role in the management process, the effectiveness of communication in management, so this study aims to analyze the role of management in communication by applying the management theory perspective of Henry Fayol. The research used a literature review method with a conceptual approach, secondary data sources were obtained from journals, books, documentation, and articles related to the topic used. The results of the study show that management in communication can help minimize the risk of information failure and minimize communication barriers. Henry Fayol's management theory can have a positive impact on communication by making it more planned, structured, effective, and efficient.
