Abstract

Many elderly people in Carikan Hamlet cannot yet read the Koran, and there are no special learning programs for them. Therefore, TPQ Elderly was established to provide Al-Qur'an learning that suits the needs of the elderly. The TPQ Elderly Program was introduced to the community through pamphlets and direct outreach through religious activities and village events. Learning begins with the introduction of hijaiyah letters using teaching aids and continues with methods suitable for the elderly. Even though there are obstacles such as limited time because activities can be carried out after Maghrib prayers, efforts have been made to create a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere and adapt learning methods to help the understanding of TPQ Elderly participants. Continuous evaluation will be carried out to assess the extent of effectiveness in helping elderly people read the Koran properly and correctly. Thus, through the PAR approach and implementation of the TPQ for the Elderly, the hope is to improve the ability to read the Koran in Carikan Hamlet and allow them to engage in meaningful religious activities in their old age.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of four independent variables, namely independent commissioners, audit committees, leverage, and firm size, as mechanisms of good corporate governance on the financial performance of Indonesian manufacturing companies. The population consists of 142 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and publishing financial reports from 2019 to 2022. Panel data regression analysis using E-Views Software is employed for analysis. The findings reveal that independent commissioners, audit committees, leverage, and firm size collectively influence financial performance by 36.2%, with the remaining 64.8% attributed to other factors. All variables demonstrate a significant influence, but only independent commissioners exhibit a negative effect. These findings emphasize the importance of effective corporate governance practices in enhancing financial performance and provide valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders to foster sustainable and resilient corporate environments. Highlight: Multiple Independent Variables: The study examines the impact of four crucial corporate governance mechanisms, including independent commissioners, audit committees, leverage, and firm size, on the financial performance of Indonesian manufacturing companies. Collective Influence on Financial Performance: The findings suggest that these corporate governance mechanisms collectively contribute to 36.2% of the financial performance variation, highlighting their significant role in shaping company outcomes. Negative Effect of Independent Commissioners: Interestingly, the study reveals that while all variables show a substantial influence, independent commissioners have a negative effect on financial performance, necessitating further investigation and potential policy adjustments. Abstract

Dengue fever is a disease caused by the infection of dengue virus (DENV). This virus is primarily transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Dengue virus is classified into 4 different serotypes, namely DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4. The symptoms experienced by individuals infected with dengue can vary widely, ranging from asymptomatic (no symptoms), flu-like fever, bleeding, and shock to death. Along with the increase in the number of dengue cases worldwide, more atypical or unusual symptoms of the disease have been observed, also referred to as expanded dengue syndrome (EDS). These unusual symptoms involve various human organs such as the heart, kidneys, liver, muscles, lungs, and the nervous system. The exact cause and mechanisms or pathogenesis of these atypical manifestations are still not fully understood. This paper aims to discuss various hypotheses related to the pathogenesis and causes of atypical manifestations of dengue infection. Several possible pathogenesiss of this disease include direct invasion by the dengue virus into cells of tissues/organs, causing damage to the tissue/organ. Additionally, indirect factors are caused by the human immune response to the virus, such as the effects of cytotoxic T cells, antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE), and excessive production of cytokines and chemokines leading to cytokine storm, resulting in vascular leakage and bleeding. Some risk factors that may contribute to severe disease caused by dengue infection include secondary heterologous infection, virulent virus strains, host factors such as genetics, age, gender, comorbidities/co-infections, and epidemiological factors such as living in areas with high dengue endemicity.
