Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises have a key role in economic development and job creation, but lately, and in the footprint of the COVID-19 pandemic, a violent health and economic crisis is emerging that threatens many affected countries. The objective of this study is to assess the effect of the COVID-19 health crisis on the indebtedness of Tunisian SMEs. For this purpose, a sample of 140 SMEs was selected, and for the data analysis, we resorted to the truncated regression methodology via the STATA 12 software, the results show a positive effect of indebtedness on the health crisis of the COVID-19, SMEs are struggling to repay their debts, but there is a delay in repaying them on time. Moreover, the results show precisely that the health crisis of COVID-19 has been the cause of other challenges that prevent SMEs from functioning, which implies the usefulness of the intervention of governments and partners in order to overcome the cash flow difficulties.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship has nowadays become a priority for governments seeking to raise the level and pace of business creation given its many positive socio-economic benefits. Efforts have been made to promote, encourage and support entrepreneurs in their journeys. However, in the absence of entrepreneurial motivation and a favorable environment, all efforts will not have an impact. Knowledge of the motivational profile of the business creator thus becomes a key factor prior to the success of support programs and measures taken to promote entrepreneurship and business creation. It is in this context that this research work takes place, which aims to explore the motivations for business creation among entrepreneurs in Sfax (Tunisia). The results we achieved show the coexistence of several types and levels of entrepreneurial motivations. These motivations concern the entrepreneur himself, his direct entourage as well as the characteristics of his environment. Keywords: entrepreneurial motivation, business creation, entrepreneurs, Sfax

Abstract

The development of countries is dependent on certain political conditions, but also and above all socio-economic ones. At this level, entrepreneurship, through its different forms, plays a key role. In this sense, in Tunisia, the public authorities have opted to encourage private initiative and have been engaged since the mid-1980s in a program aimed at creating a favorable entrepreneurial ecosystem.Indeed, entrepreneurship can only be stimulated by meeting the needs of entrepreneurs at different levels of the entrepreneurial process. It is in this context that this contribution is made, the objective of which is to explore, through qualitative exploratory research, the accompaniment of entrepreneurs in the Tunisian entrepreneurial ecosystem. The results of our study reveal that, although the actors of the Tunisian entrepreneurial ecosystem play an undeniable role in promoting and supporting entrepreneurial initiatives, several elements suggest that the ecosystem as a whole has not yet managed to generate a fully coherent and efficient dynamic. Indeed, there is an urgent need to improve the interconnection between the different actors of the ecosystem, in order to create a real value chain for entrepreneurial initiatives.
