Abstract

This paper examines the critical interpretation of strategic planning of cyber public relations in a faith-based organization. Specifically, this paper aims to elaborate on how the administrators of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah conduct their relationship with the public through their official social media, Lensamu, which consists of Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter accounts. This study uses the descriptive qualitative analysis method with Lutrell's theory as the framework of analysis. Data collection was operationalized through interview, observation, and documentation. Lutrell's strategic planning of social media consists of sharing, optimizing, managing, and engaging. The result shows that all steps of strategic planning were carried out by Lensamu. Sharing and optimizing are optimally executed. Meanwhile, managing and engaging still need to be developed. Theoretically, this study contributes to a cyber public relations scheme of faith-based organizations. Besides, this study provides a significant lesson learned for social media administrators, especially those working in the faith-based area.

Abstract

Ineffective waste management in Dukuh Ngepet, Srigading, Sanden, Bantul, has caused negative impacts on the environment, including soil and water pollution and increased public health risks. This community service aims to implement an integrated waste management system based on community participation to increase public awareness and involvement in sorting and processing waste more responsibly. Need of assessment shows that the community faces difficulties in sorting waste due to limited facilities and a lack of understanding of proper waste management. This was revealed through interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with local stakeholders. This community service uses a participatory method that involves direct observation, interviews with the community, and the implementation of a waste sorting socialization and training program. In its implementation, the community is given education about sorting organic, inorganic, and B3 waste, and is provided with facilities in the form of sorting trash bins to assist the waste management process. The results of community service show that after the implementation of the program, there was an increase in public awareness of the importance of sorting waste, as indicated by a reduction in the volume of household waste by 26.73%. In addition, the community becomes more skilled in processing organic waste into compost and recycling inorganic waste to reduce the amount of waste disposed of in landfills. To ensure the sustainability of the program, support from local regulations and continued assistance are needed so that the community remains consistent in implementing an integrated waste management system. This program emphasizes that a community-based approach can be an effective solution in creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Abstract

The preliminary study through observation shows that the TPA has a limited number of teachers, so TPA cannot be done regularly or only when there are teachers. In addition, in the mosque area there is an empty cupboard that has the potential to be utilized as a reading corner to increase the interest in reading of the congregation. This Student Service Program aims to (1) strengthen the role of the Baitussalam Mosque as a non-formal education center through improving the quality of teaching at the Al-Qur'an Education Park (TPA), (2) provide more adequate literacy facilities through the procurement and management of reading corners, (3) beautify the mosque environment to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. This program coincides with the month of Sha'ban which indicates the presence of Ramadan in the near future. This program was implemented through several stages, namely preparation, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. The results of this program are an increase in the number of TPA teachers from the comunity service team so that TPA can be routinely carried out, the availability of a reading corner containing a collection of Islamic books and children's reading, and a tidier and more beautiful mosque in welcoming the month of Ramadan. In addition, the cleanliness of the mosque increased significantly, creating a more comfortable worship environment for worshipers.
