Abstract

Ken Dedes is a figure who is remembered by the East Java community through myth and folklore. The myth of Ken Dedes is related to her figure as the primary woman who keeps the secret of radiant beauty, intelligence, and the mother who gave birth to the kings of Java. This study aims to find the reflection of people's memories about Ken Dedes and to find the cult of the mother from her figure. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with anthropological and psychological approaches. The results of the study show that Ken Dedes is remembered and reflected in the views of the people of East Java. From this reflection, the memory of Ken Dedes' serves as a projection or wishful thinking, an education tool, and a way of justification. In addition, in the context of the patriarchal society of East Java, Ken Dedes is a form of mother cult. In conclusion, the memory and reflection of Ken Dedes in East Javanese society have different variants based on the category of young and adult or old age. Meanwhile, the cult of the mother of a patriarchal society is legitimacy of throne.

Abstract

The Mini Art Malang Exhibition aims to capture the artistic and aesthetic potentials of young artists in Malang City. The Mini Art Malang Exhibition is an exhibition that is an annual art project - an annual art event held by Studio Dinding Luar since 2018. Every year, MAM offers and carries different themes to inject stimuli into young artists which are then interpreted in the form of works of art. MAM participants are not limited to individual works of art or individual creations, but are also   open to communal/community/group based creations in conveying their ideas. The general hope of the MAM event is that the exhibition can become a transmission or medium of communication between artists and  appreciators. This article discusses the history of the founding of Mini Art Malang (MAM) starting from the background of its formation, goals, and achievements.

Abstract

Expressionism Art Criticism on Agapetus’ Painting “Baik Boeroek Tanah Airkoe Joega”. Agapetus is an artist with  a  surrealist visual concept whose focus is on animals as the subject matter. Agapetus talks a lot about the social condition of society through the representation of animals. This research wants to explore the meaning contained in the work "Baik Boeroek Tanah Airkoe Juga" through an art criticism approach. This research was conducted to describe, interpret, and evaluate works from the perspective of Expressionism criticism. This research wants to analyze the message and meaning that Agapetus wants to convey. Themes, form visualizations, and similar works become references in analyzing this work. Data is collected through various sources, such as articles, books, and online media documentaries. The research results are presented in the form of a descriptive narrative.
