Abstract

The objective of the research is to investigate the relationship between the lighting and working shift, and the fatigue work of the nurses in the Emergency Unit at RSUD Baa Sub District the Regency of Rote Ndao in 2008. It is observational-analytic research by using the design of the cross-sectional study. The population of this research is all 10 nurses in the Emergency Unit at RSUD Baa Sub District the Regency of Rote Ndao. This population is also a sample of this research. This research applies Phi-Coefficient of Association as the statistical test to test the relationship between lighting and fatigue work, and also to Contingency Coefficient Test to test the relationship between shift work and fatigue work. The result of the research shows that there is a relationship between lighting and fatigue work of nurses in the Emergency Unit at RSUD Baa Sub District the Regency of Rote Ndao in 2008 with p = 0,033. Moreover, there is a relationship between shift work and fatigue work of nurses in the Emergency Unit at RSUD Baa Sub District the Regency of Rote Ndao in 2008 with p = 0,040.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the relationship between night shift work patterns and liver function test results (SGOT and SGPT) among workers at Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes General Hospital, Kupang. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design was applied, involving 40 night shift workers selected using the Lameshow formula. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and laboratory liver function tests, and analyzed using the Chi-Square test (α=0.05). The results showed no significant association between age (p=0.552) or attitude (p=0.346) and liver function outcomes. In contrast, sleep duration (p=0.024) and night shift work patterns (p=0.004) were significantly associated with liver enzyme levels. Leave incentives showed no significant effect (p=0.204). In conclusion, lifestyle and work-related factors, particularly sleep duration and night shift frequency, play a more critical role in liver function alterations than demographic characteristics. These findings provide valuable insights for hospital management to develop more health-friendly occupational health policies for night shift workers. Keywords: Night Shift, Liver Function, SGOT, SGPT, Health Workers.
