Abstract

The study of linguistics has experienced quite dynamic developments in the contemporary era. Linguistics is the main tool in dissecting or studying texts. One representation of the branch of linguistics that has attracted the attention of scholars or language researchers is stylistics. Stylistics is one of the linguistic disciplines that are quite comprehensive or interdisciplinary (macro linguistics). This is because stylistics includes elements of other linguistic disciplines such as semantics, phonology, syntax, and morphology. The stylistic study, which was originally used to discuss literary texts, is currently developing and is included in the study of the text of the holy Koran. This study seeks to explore the stylistics of the Koran in surah al-Ikhlas. The aim is to find out and reveal the use of language and textual linguistic aesthetics in surah al-Ikhlas. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive. The findings in this study show that the stylistics in the surah al-Ikhlas include several al-mustawayat, namely; al-mustawa al-nahwi (syntactic level), al-mustawa al-sarfi (morphological level), al-mustawa al-sauti (phonological level), al-mustawa al-dalali (semantic level), and al-mustawa al- tashwiri (imagery level). Through some of this al-mustawayat we can get meaning and deep understanding in the form of the oneness or unity of Allah, with all the power implied in the meaning of the surah al-Ikhlas can refute the negative stigmas of the polytheists and can also increase the firmness of a Muslim's faith.

This paper aims to explore the speech acts and the modesty of the language politeness principles by Ali bin Abi Thalib in his letters to Muawiyah. In addition, to find out the meaning of using politeness in various speech acts in Ali bin Abi Thalib's letters to Muawiyah, The researcher used speech act theory (Searle) and politeness maxim that was formulated by Leech as the main analysis in this research. The findings of this study indicate that almost all the letters of Ali bin Abi Talib used indirect speech acts in the form of representative sentences, expressive sentences, commissive sentences, and declarative sentences. Each variant of these sentences contains an imperative meaning. The use of politeness maxim in language has its own benefits and meanings, which is to give varying influences to the letter reader according to the variance of politeness maxim politeness used. The impact on the reader of the letter (Muawiyah) is to convince and give consideration in order to submit to the legitimate government that is the caliphate of Ali bin Abi Talib.

Abstract

This study scrutinizes the dynamic interpretation and contestation of Islamic moderation (wasatiyah) on social media platforms. Amidst the rapid proliferation of moderation campaigns and diverse posts, the research systematically analyzes content using hashtags like #Islamwasathiyah, #wasathiyah, #moderasiberagama, #moderasi and #ayatayatmoderasi. The findings unveil intricate interpretations of moderation, encompassing both textual and contextual dimensions. Notably, the contested nature of moderation becomes apparent as proponents associate it with human brotherhood, tolerance, and the ideal Muslim attitude, while opponents view it as indicative of an unserious commitment or a half-hearted approach to Islam. These divergent perspectives, influenced by individual backgrounds and educational levels, significantly contribute to the broader discourse on religious moderation narratives within the dynamic discourse of social media.
