Abstract

The article of this study tries to explain political dynasties by making a comparison between political dynasties in Banten province and political dynasties in Central Maluku district. The political dynasties in these two regions have similarities in the basic framework of kinship relations, but the political dynasties in Central Maluku also show the dominance of the Hatuhaha Group in a strategic position in the social life of the people in Central Maluku and Maluku. This study also produces findings that local officials who carry out political dynasties focus on the economic and political interests of their groups and cause corruption in the management of power. In collecting data using library research method. The result showed that Political dynasties also show the weakness of political parties in the recruitment of regional leaders so that democracy at the local level is trapped by the interests of groups from the political dynasty.

Abstract

This research focuses on the power relations of the local elite and the village head candidate, namely Asep Kurniawan, where the local elite plays a role and has a stake in the life of Sukaluyu Village, both physically and politically. This study uses elite theory and the concept of power relations which will explain the form of power relations that occur between local elites and Asep Kurniawan and explain the role of local elites in mobilizing community support for Asep Kurniawan in the 2019 Village Head Election in Sukaluyu. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The results of the study show that the power relations that occur between the local elite and Asep Kurniawan are used as a strategic game, domination and governance where each local elite has a political agreement during the Head Election. In addition, this study reveals that the role of local elites in mobilizing community support for Asep Kurniawan has worked well because each local elite has a strong influence with power in each area of Sukaluyu Village, making it easier for Asep Kurniawan to be elected as Head of Sukaluyu Village.

Abstract

The Indonesian government created the Special Autonomy Policy in 2001 to prevent conflict and accelerate development in regions with distinct historical, social, and political characteristics. However, after more than two decades of implementation, the establishment of Special Autonomy in Aceh and Papua has produced mixed results, particularly in terms of political stability, governance, and national integration. This study begins with the topic of why Special Autonomy has strengthened national integration in Aceh but not in Papua? The goal of this study is to assess the effectiveness of Special Autonomy in promoting national integration and to determine the factors that influence the policy's success or failure based on the local environment of each region. The research technique employs a comparative qualitative approach that includes policy document analysis, literature reviews, and the tracking of empirical data from development reports and political dynamics in Aceh and Papua. The study's findings indicate that the existence of the Helsinki peace accord, political representation channels through local parties, and a somewhat more restricted level of responsibility for Special Autonomy monies all contribute to the Aceh Special Autonomy's success. However, in Papua, there are still development inequities, a lack of avenues for political representation of indigenous peoples, and low trust in the state, resulting in a suboptimal national integration process. This study is unique in that it evaluates Special Autonomy as a tool for reconciliation and trust-building, as well as economic policy and political decentralisation
