Abstract

One of the problems caused by human activities that many cities in the world face is marine debris. The emergence of some problems caused by an increase in the amount of waste is closely related to the increasing needs and human activities as the population increases. The purpose of this study was to determine the type of inorganic waste in the mangrove ecosystem in the Wara Timur and Bara Districts. This research was conducted in April - November 2023 in Wara Timur and Bara Districts. Meanwhile, the analysis of marine debris was carried out at the Marine Laboratory of the Muhammadiyah University of Palopo. Data collection techniques use the observation method by making a 100 long transect. In each District, 3 observation stations are made. The results of this study indicate that the types of inorganic waste found at the research location are plastic, glass, and cloth waste. Of the various types of waste obtained, plastic is the most common type of waste found in research locations.

Abstract

Abstract

Research on landslide-prone areas based on geographic information systems in disaster mitigation efforts is very important because of the mushrooming of existing development on the outskirts of cities irregularly, resulting in disaster-prone cities. The purpose of the study is to determine the extent of landslide-prone areas through landslide vulnerability mapping so as to optimize disaster mitigation measures. The location of the research study is Palopo City. The research methods used are scoring, weighting and overlay methods for 5 parameters for 5 categories of landslide vulnerability. The results of the analysis of landslide-prone areas in Palopo City show a landslide-prone map with an area that is included in the safe category (2846.71 ha), the safe enough category (4585.60 ha), the vulnerable category (5237.81 ha), the quite vulnerable category (10397.54 ha) and the very vulnerable category (4676.33 ha). The resulting map provides information about landslide-prone areas to the Palopo City government, especially the Palopo City Regional Disaster Management Agency.

Abstract

Waste has now become a global issue, with Indonesia being the world's second greatest producer. The presence of waste that ends up in the water imposes additional responsibilities on those who reside in coastal areas to limit the presence of waste. The purpose of this research is to determine community behavior in garbage processing, particularly in coastal towns. The methods employed are observation, interviews, and surveys, all of which are interconnected and should yield the most data. To validate the data, an analysis was performed using the SPSS instrument. In this study, 17 household, with the results indicating that the community's understanding of garbage and its many categories was extremely good (65%). This is aided by community understanding in trash management, as well as community awareness and readily available support facilities.
