Abstract

Abstract:The Eco-culture approach is an approach that considers natural conditions and local culture so that it becomes a combination of ecological and cultural approaches. In its application, the Eco-culture approach has 5 main principles that form the basis of design and development. This research aims to examine and explore the application of the 5 main principles in the Educational Crafts Center building. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results show that the 5 main principles of the Eco-culture approach are Image of Space (applying the shape of the building mass as a representation of the roof shape of a joglo house); Source of Environmental Knowledge (applying sensory experience through light and air conditioning elements); Building Image (using solo batik elements in building design); Technologies (representation and modification of the joglo house construction structure and the use of local materials); and Idealized Concept of Place (applying the concept of joglo house arrangement to the arrangement of building spaces starting from Pendopo as Lobby, Dalem as exhibition space, Senthong Kiwa as management office, Senthong Tengah as craftsman retail, Shentong Tengen as educational studio and library, Gandhok as Food Court). Keywords: Educational Crafts Center, Eco-Culture, Solo City Abstrak:Pendekatan Eco-culture merupakan pendekatan yang mempertimbangkan keadaan alam dan budaya setempat sehingga menjadi perpaduan antara pendekatan ekologi dan budaya. Dalam penerapannya, pendekatan Eco-culture memiliki 5 prinsip utama yang menjadi dasar perancangan dan pengembangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan mengeksplorasi bagaimana penerapan 5 prinsip utama tersebut pada bangunan Educational Crafts Center. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 5 prinsip utama dari pendekatan Eco-culture yaitu Image of Space (menerapkan bentuk massa bangunan hasil representasi dari bentuk atap rumah joglo); Source of Environmental Knowledge (menerapkan pengalaman sensorik melalui elemen cahaya dan penghawaan); Building Image (menggunakan unsur batik solo dalam desain bangunan); Technologies (representasi dan modifikasi struktur konstruksi rumah joglo dan penggunaan material lokal); serta Idealized Concept of Place (menerapkan konsep penataan rumah joglo pada penataan ruang bangunan berawal dari Pendopo sebagai Lobby, Dalem sebagai ruang pameran, Senthong Kiwa sebagai kantor pengelola, Senthong Tengah sebagai retail pengrajin, Shentong Tengen sebagai studio edukasi dan perpustakaan, Gandhok sebagai Food Court).
