Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the marker of what grammatical cohesion was in the background of the students’ thesis of  Padang State University. The research data was in the form of written data, namely paragraphs in the background of students' thesis at Padang State University. The results in this study showed 7 theses there were 263 used of grammatical cohesion. From the analysis of the data, the most dominant marker of grammatical cohesion was the reference marker of 142 data. There were 62 data substitution markers, 38 data ellipsis markers, and 21 conjunction markers. So, it could be concluded that the writing of the background of the students’ thesis at Padang State University had a marker of grammatical cohesion which made the paragraph intact and efficient.Keywords: markers, grammatical cohesion, scripts Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penanda kohesi gramatikal apa yang terdapat dalam latar belakang skripsi mahasiswa Uiversitas Negeri Padang. Data penelitian ini berupa data tertulis, yaitu paragraf dalam latar belakang skripsi mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Padang. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan 7 skripsi terdapat 263 penggunaan kohesi gramatikal. Dari analisis data tersebut, penanda kohesi gramatikal yang paling dominan adalah penanda referensi sebanyak 142 data. Penanda subsitusi terdapat 62 data, penanda ellipsis sebanyak 38 data, dan penanda konjungsi terdapat 21 data. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penulisan latar belakang skripsi mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Padang terdapat penanda kohesi gramatikal yang menjadikan paragraf tersebut utuh dan efisien.Kata kunci: penanda, kohesi gramatikal, skripsi

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes in writing short story texts using project-based learning models in class XI.5 SMA IT Insan Cendekian Boarding School Payakumbuh. this research method is Classroom Action Research. The data of this study were collected using field notes, observations, interviews, test results, and documentary evidence in cycles I and II. The data obtained were analyzed using percentage analysis. The results of this study indicate that the use of project-based learning models can improve student learning outcomes in writing short story texts. This is evidenced by the increase in the completeness of learning outcomes in each cycle, in the pre-cycle student learning outcomes of 33%, cycle I of 56%, and in cycle II learning outcomes have reached 100%. The novelty of this research lies in the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model which is tailored to the specific needs of IT ICBS Payakumbuh High School students to improve learning outcomes in writing short story texts. Its contribution is to provide an alternative learning strategy that is effective and applicable in developing students' writing skills at the secondary school level
