Abstract

The Crusades were triggered by the occupation of several Christian cities and holy sites by Islam in 632 AD. The Christian military used the cross as a symbol to signify that the war had a holy purpose, namely to liberate the holy city of Jerusalem from Islamic rule. To ensure the war was deemed truly sacred, all Western fleets and troops participating in the war were required to wear the cross emblem, such as on sail flags, team and troop banners, shields, armor, and other equipment. This study is a literature review. The approach applied in this research is qualitative. Primary data sources come from supportive references, while secondary data sources involve several journals and books. Data analysis is conducted using the content analysis method. The research findings indicate that the Crusades originated from European expansionism in response to the actions of the Seljuq Turks against the Byzantine Empire. Several factors contribute to the occurrence of the Crusades, including religious, political, social, and economic factors. The Crusades have significant impacts on both the Islamic and Western worlds.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the role of the Madrasah Principal in enhancing teacher professionalism at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Washliyah 44 Sei Rampah. The research utilizes a qualitative method with a case study design. Data collection was conducted through observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using triangulation techniques. The findings indicate that the Madrasah Principal plays a central role as a leader, innovator, and motivator in managing and developing the madrasah. The Principal promotes teacher professionalism through various training programs, awards for outstanding teachers, and by creating a conducive work environment. As an innovator, the Principal strives to keep up with advances in science and technology by developing relevant curricula and learning programs. Furthermore, the Principal’s role as a motivator is evident in their efforts to provide guidance and motivation to teachers, encourage commitment to tasks, and address any challenges that may arise in the teaching process. In conclusion, the Principal’s effective leadership, innovation, and motivation significantly influence teacher professionalism, ultimately improving the quality of education at the madrasah. Keywords: Madrasah Principal, teacher professionalism, innovation, education Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran Kepala Madrasah dalam meningkatkan profesionalisme guru di Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Washliyah 44 Sei Rampah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, yang kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan teknik triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kepala Madrasah memainkan peran sentral sebagai pemimpin, inovator, dan motivator dalam mengelola dan mengembangkan madrasah. Kepala Madrasah mendorong peningkatan profesionalisme guru melalui berbagai pelatihan, pemberian penghargaan bagi guru yang berprestasi, serta menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang kondusif. Sebagai inovator, Kepala Madrasah berupaya untuk mengikuti perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi dengan mengembangkan kurikulum dan program pembelajaran yang relevan. Selain itu, peran Kepala Madrasah sebagai motivator tercermin dari upayanya memberikan motivasi dan bimbingan kepada guru, mendorong komitmen terhadap tugas, serta mengatasi kendala yang mungkin timbul dalam proses pengajaran. Kesimpulannya, peran Kepala Madrasah yang efektif dalam memimpin, menginovasi, dan memotivasi memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pengembangan profesionalisme guru, yang pada akhirnya meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di madrasah tersebut.
