Abstract

Abstract- Dian Cinema is an entertainment building in the form of a cinema that was built in 1930 under the name Radio City at that time. Located on Jalan Dalem Kaum no. 58, Bandung, Dian Cinema is the only cinema building left in the Alun - alun area and it is categorized as Group A Cultural Heritage Building in Bandung. In the beginning, Dian Cinema had experienced its heyday by showing a variety of foreign and local films, until it was eventually replaced with a new, more modern cinema concept that made Dian Cinema visitors diminished and eventually closed. The transition of functions in this building continues as a billiard sports venue, a place to sell clothes, rental offices, football sports venues, until now, Dian cinema is run into a vacuum of function. This makes the condition of the building become untreated and unmaintained well. In fact, the use of buildings in the right way can save these buildings and have a positive impact on the surrounding environment. Therefore, the proposed of a new function commonly referred to as adaptive reuse is carried out as one of the conservation act of cultural heritage buildings to maintain its history and existence. The study uses descriptive methods with qualitative analysis and evaluation, by describing the existing condition of the building. After that, it was conducted on the needs of the area in accordance with Bandung City regulations, conservation theory, analysis of the area and buildings, as well as examples of the successful application of adaptive reuse in Indonesia. The results of this study resulted in a new function, the Art Studio and the Performing Gallery which was considered applicable to the Dian Cinema building. The function is chosen based on a series of analysis results such as location, historical value, building characteristics, spatial requirements, to the potential and constraints of the building and area. The existence of new functions in the building is expected to be able to evoke social activities and old historical memories that are starting to fade, increase public knowledge, become an entertainment building and educational tourist destinations, and can participate in maintaining, protecting, and utilizing the existence of Group A Cultural Heritage Buildings in Bandung. Key Words: Adaptive Reuse, Cultural Heritage Building, Bioskop Dian

Abstract

Abstract- Vastusastra is a text which discusses Indian architecture which is published in several books, included Manasara. Vastusastra contains guidline for building Indian construction, including religious building such as temples. Although the narrative was made for the construction of temples in India, it turns out that there are some elements in vastu that also found in Mataram Kuno temples. This raises questions about the relationship of Indian architecture with Majapahit, which was the era after Ancient Mataram, given the Hindu-Buddhist influence still existed in the Majapahit era. To find out this, vastusastra-Manasara was used as a benchmark to find out the elements of the Majapahit temple which was influenced by India, especially South India which was thought to have a more dominant influence than North India on temple architecture in Indonesia. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach by describing the figure and mass-space layout of Majapahit temples that have been selected as the object of research and compared with vastusastra-Manasara's narrative using reference objects to facilitate analysis in order to find out the relations of the Majapahit era temples with vastusastra-Manasara narrative. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the temples of the Majapahit era still have relations with vastusastra-Manasara narrative when viewed in terms of figure and mass-space layout. But the relationship between the two can be said to be increasingly decreased. The re-domination of the original culture of Indonesian society in the Majapahit era and the influence of other cultures such as China is thought to be the cause of the waning influence of India on the architecture of the Majapahit temple. This led to the fusion of culture in the Majapahit temple and resulted in variations of new temples that had never existed before. Key Words: candi, majapahit, temple, vastusatra, manasara, relation

Abstract

Abstract - The Bogor Karesidenan Building is one of the colonial architectural heritage buildings located around the Bogor Palace and Botanical Gardens. Registered as one of the cultural heritage buildings of the 24 buildings that have been determined by the Mayor of Bogor based on PERMENBUDPAR NO. PM.26/PW.007/MKP/2007. This building is located in a government and service trade area, causing many modern buildings to be built around the Bogor Karesidenan Building in line with the development of Bogor City. Changes that exist in cultural heritage buildings as a form of adaptation to these developments cannot be avoided, especially in existing colonial heritage buildings. There has not been a classification in the Bogor City Regional Regulation, so efforts to maintain the authenticity of cultural heritage buildings will be difficult where class classification is very important in the context of building conservation. One of the efforts that can be done to prevent these changes is to determine the classification of preservation in the Bogor Karesidenan Building. This study aims to identify and analyze the shape of the architectural visual and spatial character by looking at the shape of the elements in the building to determine the classification of building preservation. This research is a form of qualitative research using descriptive data analysis methods, comparative methods to compare the forms of existing building elements and classification methods to determine the classification of building preservation. From the results of a descriptive analysis of the spatial elements and visual elements of the building, the Bogor Karesidenan Building is included in the Class A building, because the assessment of the authenticity of the building is more dominant than the assessment of changing elements. This research is only limited to architectural values that become architectural data, as for determining this building to be classified as a cultural heritage building, a similar academic study is needed from other aspects related to structural, mechanical and electrical data and environmental planning. Keywords: preservation, classification, cultural heritage, Bogor Karesidenan Building
