Abstract

In the field of architecture, theory is an important aspect that determines the perspective and direction in achieving goals. The domain of theory of architecture includes the framework of thinking in architectural design process, research, and architectural criticism. In the order of the architectural design, architectural theory even becomes the most important foundation to support the design concept. This research is motivated by the importance of understanding tropical architecture. Implemented by qualitative methods, author examines tropical architecture to find a more comprehensive interpretation than what has been understood so far. This research relies on relevant theories to build a holistic frame of mind, then concludes that there is a close relationship between tropical architecture, vernacular architecture, and regionalism in architecture. The results of this research are expected to be fundamental framework for anyone who wants to endorse tropical architecture as a foundation of thinking, in design and research.

Abstract

Throughout the centuries flood disasters have taken a loss of human lives property damage, and economic impacts all over the world. In Jakarta, Indonesia, various alternatives of strategies after flood disasters have been implemented during the past reconstruction project due the high severe damage losses. Unfortunately the programs just issues, based on the damage and losses assessment after recent disasters happened, it indicated the necessity of better flood disaster management for future life’s people in Indonesia. The research focused on flood disaster mitigation program and used as some implementation program from other countries for comparison to propose an appropriate design of mitigation and planned. The approaches use the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as a decision analysis tool, in order to develop a Program Evaluation Model (PEM) for flood disaster management in Jakarta. In addition, data will be gathered through direct survey with experts. The PEM’s concept is concerned with the selecting the major factors which influence the management of flood disaster in Jakarta, and use the identified factors to evaluate different flood mitigation program from other countries (Taiwan, Japan, Netherlands, United States, and United Kingdom).

Abstract

The Karang Mumus sub-watershed around the Segiri market in Samarinda, east Kalimantan is a startegic area in city. Not only having economic value but also this area has an important role to maintain environmental quality. Frequent flooding in Samarinda is caused by many factors, such as the lack of availability of infiltartion. The Green Open Space (RTH) in Karang Mumus sub-watershed around the Segiri Market is very useful for cathed the rain water. Environmental engineering in green open space can be an alternative to flood control facility. Some of the engineering carried out in the Karang Mumus sub-watershed has an impact on visual quality and benefits for community social activities. This research is hoped this environmentak engineering will also provide ecological benefits, especially reducing the risk of flooding. Keywords: Green open space; watershed, Flood

Abstract

Time, cost, and quality are three important elements of schedule that should be made in detail in order to assist in the evaluation of the project. In this research, we analyzed the acceleration of project completion duration. The case study on this research was taken in Tenggarong Seberang District and Tenggarong District. The method used in this research is the crash program method with the alternative implementation with a variety of added work hours and manpower, which are adding 1 hour, 2 hours, and 3 hours of work hours also the alternative of adding 25% and 50% of the manpower. This research aimed to determine the total time and cost of implementing the project after the crashed and determined the results of an optimal acceleration alternative by comparing the results of the analysis of the application of the crash program method. The work was accelerated (crashed) in this research is work that is on the critical path. The results of the application of the crash program method with the addition of working hours and manpower obtained an efficient acceleration alternative, namely the addition of 3 hours of working hours which resulted in the acceleration duration being 67 days or 25.56% faster than the normal duration of 90 days with a total acceleration cost of Rp 1,213,717,588.81 or 0.213% lower than the normal total cost of Rp 1,216,303,515.90.
