Abstract

On the road section between Padang City and Padang Panjang City, the geometric conditions of the road are steep and winding, making it difficult for drivers when they are in a convoy of vehicles, thus allowing accidents to occur. Therefore, a headway value is needed to control the safe distance between vehicles so that there are no collisions between vehicles when convoying. This study aims to determine the distribution of traffic headway on steep roads with sharp bends. The study took traffic flow data at 2 observation posts on the Sutan Syahrir, Silaing Bawah road section. Primary data collection was carried out using a camera. Data processing used Avidemux and Microsoft Excel software. To obtain the best distribution model on steep roads with sharp bends, a Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was carried out using EasyFit Professional software. Based on the data analysis, the following results were obtained: Based on the z test, the results of the analysis of downhill and uphill flows on the first and second days of observation can be concluded that the headway of the vehicle population at Post I and Post II has the same population headway. The best distribution model (goodness of fit) from the results of the time headway test for Saturday at the first post is the Johnson SB model and Gen. Extreme Value on the incline. Then at the second observation post the best distribution model obtained was Pert on the descent, while on the ascent the Johnson SB distribution model was obtained. For the distribution model on Sunday, at the first post the Johnson SB model was obtained for the descent, and the Wakeby model on the ascent. Then at the second post the Power Function distribution model was obtained on the descent, and the Wakeby model on the ascent.

Abstract

The pursuit of sustainable environmental development requires active community participation that integrates both social and ecological dimensions. This study explores the collaborative efforts between university students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) and 30 residents of Cijujung Village, including representatives from the village government and elementary school students, over a 30-day period. The initiatives focused on three main programs: waste bank, vertical garden, and communal work (kerja bakti). A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews and field documentation. Findings reveal that the waste bank initiative not only provided practical facilities for waste sorting but also raised early awareness of proper waste management among students and villagers. The vertical garden program enhanced green spaces, improved air quality, and added both aesthetic and educational value to the school environment. Meanwhile, communal work served as a medium to strengthen social capital, including solidarity, mutual care, and collective responsibility. The integration of these three initiatives generated dual impacts: improved ecological conditions and reinforced social cohesion, providing practical benefits for the community. Therefore, the socio-ecological collaboration in Cijujung Village serves as a model of innovative, participatory, and sustainable community empowerment practices.ABSTRAKUpaya mewujudkan pembangunan lingkungan berkelanjutan menuntut partisipasi aktif masyarakat dengan mengintegrasikan aspek sosial dan ekologis.

Abstract

Low-light conditions continue to challenge real-time face recognition because dim illumination often produces noisy and low-contrast images that weaken the quality of feature extraction. This study investigates how different preprocessing strategies influence the performance of a dlib-ResNet–based recognition system under such conditions. Two reference dataset sizes—33 and 1000 images—were used to observe how reference variation affects embedding stability. Enhancement was applied either offline to the reference dataset or in real time to incoming video frames, and both approaches were also tested in combination. The experiments show that offline preprocessing provides the most reliable improvement. Enhancing reference images raised the F1-Score by 7.28% (small dataset) and 7.50% (large dataset) without reducing processing speed, indicating that clearer embeddings at registration contribute to more stable matching. Real-time preprocessing, however, produced inconsistent results. While slight gains appeared in specific cases, the added computation and occasional distortion of facial structure reduced accuracy in other scenarios. The combined method produced the weakest performance, with the large dataset showing a 33.71% decline, suggesting that excessive modification disrupts structural consistency between reference and test images. Overall, the results highlight the importance of maintaining coherent facial features rather than applying aggressive adjustments to every frame. Offline enhancement is the most practical strategy for low-light deployments, whereas real-time enhancement should be used selectively. Future work may explore adaptive illumination adjustment capable of tuning enhancement parameters automatically to match varying lighting conditions.
