Abstract

The research was conducted from October 2022 – January 2023 in the waters of Balikpapan Bay, East Kalimantan Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the estimated carbon content of seagrass E. acoroides in the Balikpapan Bay Waters.  The results showed that the density of E. acoroides ± 501 stands/m2 belonged to the very tight category.  Biomass stored in the waters of Balikpapan Bay is the above substrate part of 592.54 g/m2, and the biomass in the below substrate part is 1218.57 g/m2.  The estimated carbon storage at the above of the substrate is 264,32 gC/m2 and the value at the below of the substrate has a carbon value of 608,50 gC/m2.

Abstract

Asteroidea is a class of the phylum Echinodermata which has a radially symmetrical body shape and has five or more arms. The intertidal zone is a coastal area that lies between the highest tides and lowest ebb, this area represents the transition from ocean conditions to land conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity and abundance of asteroids in Sapa Segajah, Bontang City. This research was conducted in April 2021. Sampling of asteroids using the purposive sampling method was carried out using transect plots measuring 1x1 m2 systematically along the intertidal zone in 12 plots. The results of the study found 3 types of asteroidea species, namely Protoreaster nodosus, Archaster typhicus and Culcita novaeguineae. Asteroidea diversity is in the low criterion with a value of 0.23, uniformity tends to be small or unstable and Protoreaster Nodosus dominates.

Abstract

Teluk Balikpapan terletak di Kecamatan Balikpapan Utara, Balikpapan Tengah dan Balikpapan Barat, Provinsi Kalimantan Timur dan merupakan hilir dari Daerah Aliran Sungai Wain. Padang Lamun (Seagrass Bed) merupakan habitat bagi biota laut, salah satunya adalah Gastropoda. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan November 2022. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui asosiasi makro gastropoda pada padang lamun di Perairan Teluk Balikpapan, Kalimantan Timur. Pengumpulan data menggunakan sampling transek kuadran. Analisis data yang digunakan untuk mengetahui asosiasi makro gastropoda dengan padang lamun adalah analisis regresi linier sederhana dengan menggunakan data kerapatan lamun dan kepadatan gastropoda. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuadran transek berukuran 0,5 x 0,5 m2 pada 4 stasiun dengan 3 kali pengulangan pada setiap stasiun. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan 2 jenis lamun yaitu Enhalus acoroides dan Thalassia hemprichii. Makro gastropoda yang ditemukan sebanyak 11 spesies makro gastropoda, yaitu Laevistrombus canarium, Stramonita haemastoma, Babelomurex sentix, Ocenebra erinaceus, Bittium scabrum, Nassarius concinnus, Nassarius coronatus, Anachis carloslirae, Umbonium costatum, Umbonium vestarium, dan Tornus subcarinatus. Asosiasi makro gastropoda di padang lamun Teluk Balikpapan adalah positif yang berarti memiliki hubungan yang searah dan termasuk dalam kategori rendah.

Abstract

The important role of seagrass beds as habitat for fish communities, both as nursery ground, feeding ground and shelter. The aim of the research was to determine the association of fish communities in seagrass beds in relation to the characteristics of the seagrass species that make up the seagrass beds. The research was carried out in seagrass beds in the waters of Malahing Village, Bontang City, East Kalimantan from October 2024–February 2025, using a purposive sampling method. Sampling consisted of 2 stations with three repetitions. Fish samples were taken using a trap net and seagrass density using a 50x50cm square frame. The seagrass species found at both stations consisted of E. acoroides and T. hemprichii. The fish species caught consisted of 10 families, 11 genera and 15 species. Fish community association was positively correlated with T. hemprichii density.

Abstract

Seagrass beds provide habitat for the abundance and diversity of megagastropods that form the food chain in supporting the productivity of coastal waters. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity and abundance of megagastropoda in the seagrass beds of Tihi-Tihi Village. This study was conducted in October 2024 - February 2025 using a purposive sampling method. Megagastropoda sampling using Van Veen Grab and seagrass stands using 50x50cm square frames. Data analysis included abundance, community structure index and morphometrics of individual megagastropoda, and seagrass stand density and Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis. The results of the study found 18 species of megagastropoda. Diversity in moderate criteria, moderate population uniformity and dominance in moderate criteria with an abundance of individuals reaching 567 individuals/m2. The seagrass found 4 species of seagrass, namely E. acoroides, T. hemprichii, C. rotundata, and H. ovalis. There is a positive and very close correlation between the abundance of megagastropoda and the characteristics of seagrass density.

Abstract

Seagrass beds are macro and micro habitats for marine aquatic biota. The habitat characteristics formed by seagrass beds are closely related to the species and morphometrics of the species. Enhalus acoroides is a seagrass species that has larger root, rhizome, and leaf morphometrics compared to other seagrass species. This study aims to determine the morphometric characteristics of E. acoroides in the seagrass beds of Malahing Village, Bontang City, East Kalimantan Province. This study was conducted from October 2024 to February 2025. Data collection of E. acoroides, water samples and bottom substrates used a purposive sampling approach divided into 4 stations with 3 replications. Sampling of E. acoroides density used a 50x50cm square frame. Each sample of E. acoroides stands was subjected to morphometric measurements. The density of E. acoroides in the seagrass beds of Malahing Village in the density criteria, the morphometric characteristics of leaves, rhizomes and roots were relatively smaller and associated with the sand bottom substrate.

Abstract

Megagastropoda are well associated with seagrass ecosystems. Megagastropoda play a role in the food chain in seagrass beds as detritus eaters. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between megagastropoda abundance and seagrass density in the seagrass beds of Malahing Village, Bontang City, East Kalimantan. This study was conducted from October 2024 to February 2025. The sampling stations consisted of 4 stations and each station consisted of 3 sub-stations. Sampling used the purposive sampling method. Megagastropoda and seagrass stand sampling used a 50x50 cm square frame. Water parameter measurements were carried out in situ and ex situ and basic substrate sampling used a corer. Megagastropoda data analysis included abundance, relative abundance of species, diversity index, uniformity and dominance. Seagrass data analysis included density and relative density of species. The relationship between megagastropoda abundance and seagrass density used a Pearson's Product Moment correlation test. Megastropoda found as many as 14 species of megagastropoda namely Strombus urceus, Cypraea tigris, Trochus maculatus, Cymbiola innexa, Nassaridus dorsatus, Polinices tumidus, Rhinoclavis vertagus, Natica vitellus, Vasum turbellinus, Scaphander watsoni, Astralium calcar, Conus sp., Cypraea cervinetta, and Strombus gibberulus, and 2 species of seagrass were found namely Enhalus acoroides and Thalassia hemprichii. The relationship between the abundance of megagastropoda and the density of E. acoroides is very strongly positively correlated.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis lamun yang terdapat di perairan Pulau Balikukup dan untuk mengetahui nilai keanekaragaman, keseragaman, dominasi dan indeks nilai penting lamun di perairan Pulau Balikukup. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Januari 2021 di perairan Pulau Balikukup, Kecamatan Batu Putih, Kabupaten Berau. Prosedur penelitian meliputi penentuan lokasi, periode pengambilan sampel, pengamatan lamun, identifikasi jenis lamun, pengukuran parameter air, dan parameter fisik-kimia substrat. Data yang dianalisis adalah kerapatan dan kerapatan relatif, frekuensi dan frekuensi relatif, dominansi dan dominansi relatif jenis, indeks nilai penting, keanekaragaman, dan keseragaman. Hasil menunjukkan terdapat 4 jenis lamun di Pulau Balikukup yaitu Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, Halodule pinifolia dan Halophila ovalis. Keanekaragaman jenis lamun di perairan Pulau Bali termasuk dalam kategori cukup rendah karena <1. Keseragaman jenis lamun di perairan pulau Bali cukup berbeda pada setiap stasiun transek. Indeks dominasi jenis lamun di perairan Pulau Balikukup berada pada kategori sedang dan rendah. Jenis lamun yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang adalah Halophila ovalis dan Halodule pinifolia, dan untuk kategori rendah adalah Thalassia Hemprichii dan Cymodocea rotundata. Diketahui bahwa indeks nilai penting lamun tertinggi terdapat pada jenis lamun Halophila ovalis dan terendah pada jenis lamun Thalassia Hemprichii.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei 2021 – Januari 2022. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman, keseragaman dan dominasi jenis plankton yang terdapat pada zonasi sebelum padang lamun, padang lamun dan sesudah padang lamun di perairan Tihi- Dusun tihi, Kota Bontang, Kalimantan Timur. Pengambilan sampel lamun dan air dilakukan di 4 stasiun penelitian dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling yang kemudian diidentifikasi di Laboratorium Keanekaragaman Hayati Perairan Fakultas Kedokteran Unmul. Hasil penelitian ditemukan 4 spesies lamun yaitu Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Halophila ovalis dan Cymodocea rotundata. Ada 40 jenis plankton yang termasuk dalam 7 kelas. Komposisi plankton yang mendominasi adalah dari kelas Bacillariophyceae dengan persentase 53% dan zooplankton terbesar adalah Maxillopoda dengan nilai persentase 6%. Nilai Indeks Keanekaragaman tertinggi terdapat pada titik pra-lamun dengan nilai 5,45. Nilai ini dikategorikan tinggi. Nilai indeks keseragaman pada semua titik sampling adalah 1,05. Nilai indeks dominansi plankton pada semua titik pengambilan sampel berkisar antara 0,003 sampai dengan 0,028 dengan nilai rata-rata 0,012 yang berarti jenis plankton yang ditemukan pada semua titik zonasi relatif seragam, artinya jenis plankton yang ditemukan cenderung tidak seragam atau jauh berbeda.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the morphometrics of the Trochidae family in seagrass beds in Balikpapan Bay, East Kalimantan. This research was conducted from October 2022 to January 2023. Data was collected using quadrant transect sampling. Data analysis used to determine the morphometrics of the Trochidae family in seagrass beds is length and width of shell, abundance, diversity index (H'), uniformity index (E), and dominance index (D). Sampling was carried out using a quadrant transect measuring 0.5 x 0.5 m2 at 4 stations with 3 repetitions at each station. Two species of seagrass were found, namely E. acoroides and T. hemprichii. Two species were found from the Trochidae family, namely U. costatum and U. vestarium. The highest abundance of the Trochidae family was the species U. costatum with 288 individuals/m2 while the abundance of the Trochidae family U.vestarium was 120 individuals/m2. Based on the results of measuring the length of the shell, it was found that the shell length of U.costatum ranged from 1.0 cm – 1.5 cm with an average of 1.3 cm and U.vestarium ranged from 0.4 cm – 1.2 cm with an average of 0.9 cm. Measurement of the width of the shell found that the shell width of U.costatum ranged from 1.2 cm – 1.7 cm with an average of 1.5 cm and U. vestarium ranged from 0.4 cm – 1.3 cm with an average of 1.0 cm. Based on the research results, the ratio of the length and width of the total shell of U. costatum species was 1 : 1.2 and U. vestarium 1 : 1.1. The Diversity Index (H') of the Trochidae family in the waters of Balikpapan Bay, with an average value of 0.54, is in the low diversity category. The Uniformity Index (E) of the Trochidae family from the four stations, with an average value of 0.78, is in the High uniformity category. The Dominance Index (D) of the Trochidae family from the four stations, with an average value of 0.61, is in the Moderate Dominance category.
