By knowing these problems the lecturers then tried to analyze the sequences of Islamic-content-TED and integrate those public speaking sequences from TED talks to STID Al-Hadid’s students to give an understanding and also to improve the confidence and quality in delivering public speaking speech for the sophomore students who are majoring Islamic Communication & Broadcasting. For further, in order to master this skill, students are also expected to find noble ideas to be shared in their personal public speaking. Teachers who are expected to implement proper and effective teacher talk are apparently seeing this as one of the most complicated elements to be appropriately integrated in EFL class due to the different context between target language and first language and also the excessive target language exposure that is given by English teacher to the students as one of authentic learning process in the classroom. Many research focus on researching effective TT strategy in general EFL classroom, however, there is ony limited number of them that focuses on researching this concept in Islamic classroom with its Islamic culture, Islamic learners and Islamic situations. This article had anaysed the interview result from 7 English-Islamic lecturers in Islamic Broadcasting and Communication Learners (KPI) major and used TT features which later focussed on its ammount, diction and questioning type under SLA theory. This article aims to explain why and what types of language of the proper communication style and strategies should be applied by the English lecturers in Islamic higher education for having the effective teacher talk to English-Islamic learners, specifically to Islamic Broadcasting and Communication Learners, that could contribute to a professional development in English Language Teaching.

Abstract

This paper discusses the authors’ personal reflective notes in designing Computer Assisted-Language Learning (CALL) task design for English language teaching for the students in both Indonesian and Australian universities. The multiple case study was employed to see the different TPACK competence, and also social, economic, and geographical backgrounds of both universities. The authors brought together their teacher design practices at the classroom level and their roles in a team design aimed to analyse the design processes using two fields of study perspectives: Learning Design and CALL. Therefore, the classroom observation and reflection teaching journal were used as data to answer a specific case of CALL task design which focused on viewing the CALL task and learning design of English language university teachers, a model drawn on the field of Learning Design, developed by Mustikasari et al. (2022). The cross-case analysis of both universities found out that the University Culture of Leadership Commitment and students’ partner were suggested to escalate the English learning quality and value in post digital world.
