Abstract

The study assessed the impact of the Bachelor of Elementary Education program in the life of its graduates in terms of their employability and professional competencies based on the perceptions of graduates and their employers. The survey method was used in the study to determine the graduates' status and performance. There are 250 BEEd graduates involved in the study. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percent, and arithmetic mean were utilized to determine and describe the profile of graduates and employers, the trend in the employment of graduates for the term being studied, the employers’ assessment of the graduates in terms of their knowledge and understanding of their field of specialization, qualities, general skills and specialized skills generally expected of them in order to succeed in their teaching performance, and the over-all preparation of graduates acquired from the University for the type of work they are currently engaging and other skills needed for their future demands. The data generated from the employers' assessment of the variables mentioned was further analyzed and categorized to generate interrelated thoughts/themes that will emerge from the data. The results of the study showed that graduates of the program are competent because most of the graduates are licensed professionals, employed with regular or permanent status. However, it has been found that graduates need to gain innovative skills such as, research and the use of information communication and technology. The findings can be used as the basis of the program in improving the curriculum and instruction.

Abstract

Education has a great role on the growth and development of economy. It builds the young generation to become competent and future leaders of a country. It is observed by the Filipino people that there are problems in the Philippine education. This paper identified and discussed the problems occurred in the education system of the Philippines. A Literature review process was utilized by the researchers. The researchers also identified solutions on the problems being identified using the findings of the different studies. The result showed three major problems in the Philippine education system such as overcrowded students in a classroom, teacher are teaching subjects that is not their expertise, and poor quality in instruction. It is recommended that the Philippine Education must review their policies in hiring educators and address the needs of its stakeholders. These findings can be used as basis in creating policies to ensure quality in education.

Abstract

Descriptive phenomenology is a common methodology employed in social science research to investigate and describe people's lived experiences. It is both a philosophy and a scientific technique, and it has undergone several modifications as it expanded from the original European movement to encompass the American movement. This paper discussed and explained the process in applying Colaizzi’s method in descriptive phenomenological research under the field of education. This paper used a published research study, which the process of Colaizzi was utilized to give enough help in sorting, organizing, analyzing and presenting the narrative dataset. The main objective of using Colaizzi's descriptive phenomenology method was to generate an exhaustive description of the phenomena addressing the challenges of student moms in the midst of pandemic. Descriptive phenomenology is particularly beneficial for correctly describing the problems of student moms, and the result may be applied as the voice of this group of students during pandemic. This can be a basis of School Institutions in crafting policies as well the National Government.

Abstract

The study explored the benefits of the online learning approach as a new setup of teaching modality. Specifically, it examined the benefits as experienced by the students. Qualitative in-depth interviews were utilized in this study, and purposive sampling was used to select the participants. The participants were students invited from one of the universities in the Philippines. Thematic analysis was employed to extract themes from the transcribed interviews of the participants. The study revealed six themes: Self-Directed Learning, Breaking the Culture of Being a Dependent Learner, Online Learning Broadens Academic Horizons, Online Learning Improves Academic Performance, Online Learning Offers Students the Accessibility of Time, and Opportunity to Pursue a Degree from Home. The findings suggest that this new setup of teaching should be adopted by all universities to cater to the needs of students who are unable to attend school due to certain circumstances and who wish to complete their college degrees.
