Abstract

Spirituality is a fundamental need for every individual. Patients undergoing treatment, especially those with chronic, critical, or terminal conditions, often experience anxiety related to pain, uncertainty, and death. For patients in such conditions, spirituality becomes a primary source of calm and healing power. The ARIS (Anxiety and Depression Reduction Through Islamic Spiritual Care) module was developed as a guide to meet patients' spiritual needs through a structured Islamic approach. This study aims to explore the implementation of spiritual nursing care using the ARIS module, particularly for patients experiencing anxiety and depression. The method used follows the Kirkpatrick Model, including theoretical explanations, detailed concepts of spiritual care, and role-play sessions. This activity will be conducted over four weeks with patients experiencing chronic illness at Siti Khadijah Islamic Hospital in Palembang in 2024, through dissemination sessions and direct practice. Analysis results show that the ARIS module effectively meets patients' spiritual needs, thereby reducing their anxiety and depression. This module includes a prayer guide, healing prayers, and Al-Quran murottal, which are regarded as complete and practical by both nurses and patients. The ARIS module is recommended as a means of spiritual care to support comprehensive and holistic professional nursing care

Abstract

Improving the quality of nursing practice is a key pillar in delivering high-quality healthcare services. Nursing care standards and guidelines based on the Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards (SDKI), Nursing Outcomes Standards (SLKI), and Nursing Interventions Standards (SIKI) serve as essential frameworks for providing systematic, measurable, and regulation-compliant care. However, the implementation of these standards in healthcare facilities still faces challenges, including limited understanding and the absence of practical and applicable guidelines. This community service initiative aimed to develop and formulate nursing care standards and guidelines based on SDKI, SLKI, and SIKI to enhance nursing practice quality. The program was conducted at Bayung Lencir Regional General Hospital on April 23–24, 2025, through participatory training and a collaborative workshop involving practicing nurses. Evaluation methods included pre- and post-tests and participatory observation. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of the application of the three standards, along with the development of draft operational standards and nursing care guidelines ready for clinical use. In conclusion, this activity made a valuable contribution to improving nurses’ competencies and the quality of nursing services through the development of structured, applicable standards aligned with national regulations

Abstract

Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular complications and remains a prevalent public health concern, particularly in community settings. Family involvement plays a vital role in supporting lifestyle modifications and treatment adherence. However, educational tools tailored to family support in hypertension management are still limited. This study aimed to develop a family-centered hypertension education module designed to enhance knowledge, promote behavioral changes, and prevent cardiovascular complications among hypertensive patients in the community. A research and development (R&D) design was employed using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. The study was conducted at Puskesmas (Community Health Center) 23 Ilir Palembang from May to June 2025. Data were collected through interviews, expert validation, and pre-post tests involving 30 families of hypertensive patients. Validation involved a panel of experts in nursing, cardiology, and health education. Descriptive and paired t-test analyses were applied. The developed module consists of five core sections: understanding hypertension, healthy diet, physical activity, medication adherence, and family roles in disease management. Expert validation showed high content validity (CVI = 0.94). Post-intervention testing revealed a significant improvement in family knowledge and engagement (p < 0.05), indicating the module's effectiveness. The family-centered hypertension education module is feasible, valid, and effective in improving family support and awareness to prevent cardiovascular complications. Implementation of the module is recommended in community health centers to strengthen family involvement in hypertension management. Further research with larger samples and long-term follow-up is advised to evaluate its sustained impact.

Spiritual care is essential in nursing, especially for patients with chronic or palliative conditions such as coronary heart disease. Although medical intervention is crucial, Islamic spiritual therapy using murottal has a significant impact on patient satisfaction. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of murottal in enhancing patient satisfaction among individuals with coronary heart disease. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design was used with 52 participants at Siti Khadijah Islamic Hospital, Palembang, Indonesia. Total sampling was applied, and data were analyzed using the paired sample t-test. Patient satisfaction was measured using a Likert-scale questionnaire to assess the impact of murottal spiritual care. The results showed that the control and intervention groups had a mean age of 54 ± 6.33 and 56 ± 8.65 years, with a disease duration of 10 ± 6.38 and 9 ± 4.33 years, respectively. Most participants were male (78.8% -control, 73.1% -intervention), had low education levels, and were unemployed. Before the intervention, dissatisfaction was reported by 84.6% of the intervention group and 88.5% of the control group. Afterward, 80.8% of the intervention group expressed satisfaction, while 76.9% of the control group remained dissatisfied. The t-test yielded a p-value of < 0.05 (0.000), indicating that murottal significantly increases patient satisfaction. Integrating murottal into nursing can enhance spiritual well-being and improve patient satisfaction, particularly in chronic and palliative care settings.
