Abstract

The motivation of students to learn is greatly influenced by their teachers. Teachers are significant figures in the classroom who can uplift and mentor students. The parenting and teaching styles of educators can foster an atmosphere that encourages students to become motivated learners. A spirit of learning can be fostered by teachers who can offer constructive criticism, offer challenges that are appropriate for their student's abilities, and pay attention to each student's personal growth. The purpose of this research is to ascertain how teacher parenting influences students' motivation to learn. Teachers and students are the study's subjects, and a qualitative descriptive method is being used. Three methods were employed to acquire the data: observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative data analysis. The results of the study show that the dominant teacher parenting in motivating student learning is democratic parenting. This parenting style emphasizes open communication, giving freedom of expression, and instilling positive values in students. Democratic parenting can increase student learning motivation because it can make students feel valued, recognized, and in control of themselves. In addition, democratic parenting can also shape students' positive characteristics, such as discipline, independence, and communication. These positive characteristics can support students in learning and achieving maximum achievement.

The ability to integrate 21st-century skill competencies with workplace cultures is another requirement for vocational institutions. Many companies and industries these days are searching for employees with positive work cultures. Consequently, there is a strong and favorable correlation between workplace culture and student achievement. In addition, there is a strong correlation between students' vocational character and the 5R work culture in vocational schools. Hermawan and Nurdin's (2023) research demonstrates that the 5S work culture assessment tool achieved good content validity and reliability (0.793). Research by Balasundaram et al. (2023), applying the 5S technique can improve customer happiness, product quality, and production efficiency. Additional research by Maulidina and Wijarnaka (2023) demonstrates that work willingness is significantly and favorably impacted by the 5-person work culture by 15.90%. These three studies, however, did not examine the variables that affect the 5S work culture's successful adoption in vocational schools. The primary methodology for the research is qualitative methods; two participants complete Google forms with written interviews and observation techniques. Inductive data analysis was used to process the acquired data. The study's findings indicate that there are both internal and external elements that affect how well 5S work cultures are implemented at vocational schools. The internal factors include 1) a Well-organized curriculum; 2) well-behaved students; and 3) workload distribution. External elements, which are as follows: 1) School Persistence; 2) Industry Support; 3) Community and Parent Participation; and 4) Work Culture Integration Into Daily Practices.

Abstract

It is very important for teachers to foster students' interest in learning at Vocational High Schools (SMK). Without interest in learning, students will not really learn. In this research, a qualitative descriptive approach was used. To collect data, observation and interviews were used. Analysis is carried out by conducting analysis during data collection, namely inductively using descriptive data through systematic logical reasoning to ensure the validity of the data; then, after the data is collected, data analysis is carried out using triangulation techniques (comparing/checking, checking the validity of the data), using information observed from interviews and observations. The results of research in the field show that database teachers can help increase interest in learning by developing learning plans that take into account students' conditions and interests, integrating learning variations with individual approaches, openness, exemplary, functional, and providing motivation. Research also finds that teachers can help their talents and interests in learning by providing facilities and infrastructure that help them learn. Research also finds that teachers can help improve the influence of the environment, friends, as well as the conditions of students and their families both from school and from the students themselves. These are some of the things that can hinder students' interest in learning, while teachers must be responsible as Skills Program Coordinators, thereby creating a lesson schedule which is not quite right. Keywords: Interest in Learning, Qualitative, Teacher's Role, Vocational School
