Abstract

Infants with Low Birth Weight (LBW) are infants which borned with a birth weight under 2500 grams. According to WHO estimated, more than 20 million infants in the world (15,5% from newborn infants in the world) every years borned with LBW and influenced about 16% LBW in developing countries. Datas of General Hospital Sundari Medan in 2012, there are 188 cases of LBW (8,6%) from 2170 birth. To know the characteristics of mothers and infants with LBW in General Hospital Sundari Medan in 2012,it is conducted a descriptive research by case series design.Population and sample totaled as 188 people.Data’s been analyzed by using Chi-Square test, t-independent and Anova test. From the results, it was obtained that proportion of mothers with LBW infants based on sociodemographic, medical risk factors and patient records aged 20-35 years 79,8%, Islam 84%, housewives 54,3%, first pregnancy 52,7%, gestational age 37-42 weeks 54,8%, spacing pregnancy < 2 years 55,1%, hemoglobin concentration ≥11 gr% 35,6%, good pregnancy history 67%, no complication of pregnancy 66%, patient comes itself 88,3%. Proportion of infants with LBW based on 1500-<2500 grams 76,6%, no complication of LBW 85,6% . Mothers treatment on average 2,3 days, infants treatment of average 2,4 days, mothers circumstances when to go home healthy 83%, infants circumstances when to go home healthy 50,5%. There is no significant differences between spacing pregnancy (p= 0,614),hemoglobin concentration (p= 0,399), infants treatment of average based on complication of LBW (p= 0,878), mothers treatment on average based on circumstances when to go home (p= 0,377), infants treatment of average based on circumstances when to go home (p = 0,421). There is significant differences between mothers aged based on classification of LBW (X2= 9,873; p=0,007), parity based on classification of LBW (X2= 10,009; p= 0,002), gestational age based on classification of LBW (X2= 10,033; p=0,007), pregnancy history based on classification of LBW (X2= 14,770; p=0,000). The hospital is expected to complete the recording of status card especially hemoglobin concentration as well as the recording of antenatal care to know preganancy history. The hospital must increase quality of life for the infants and for the health department to give an information of nutrient for pregnancy women and ideal spacing pregnancy. Abstract

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is one of the most important heart disease because CHD is the main cause of mortality in some countries include Indonesia. In 2008, WHO informed cardiovascular disease PMR is 30% and died of CHD is 7,3 millions people. In 2007, Riskesdas collected CHD data based on diagnosis by healthcare professsional is 12,5%. In Semarang in 2004 CHD proportion  is 26,00%. To know the CHD patients characteristics which are treated in RSUD Tanjung Pura in 2011-2012, descriptive research has been done with case series design. Population is 109 people and sample is same with population (Total Sampling). Data has been analyzed with Chi-Square, Mann-whitney, and Kruskal wallis test. The results shown that the highest CHD proportion based on sociodemographic, for female and male gender in the age group >60 years 22%, Javanese 74,3%, moslem 94,5%, housewifes 49,5%, married 88,1%, out of Tanjung Pura 61,5%, chest pain 77,1%, hypertension 89%, blood sugar level 65,1%, high total cholesterol 72,5%, Jamkesmas 64,2%, home medical treatment way 50,5%, CFR 7,3%. There is significant different age proportions based on blood pressure (p=0,002), blood sugar level (p=0,015). There is no significant different age proportions based on total cholesterol (p=0,068), the average treatment time based on age (p=0,199), the average treatment time based on cost source (p=0,303). There is significant different average treatment time based on blood pressure (p=0,093). There is no significant difference average treatment time based on blood sugar level(p=0,608). total cholesterol (p=0,468). There is significant differerent average treatment time based on condition when out (p=0,029). RSUD Tanjung Pura is expected to give information about risk factor of CHD and recommend medical check up regularly. The hospital is recommended to refer the patients as soon as possible if can not be handled.  For Hypertention, DM, and Cholesterol patients are recommended to consume drug regularly, and medical check up to control their blood pressure, blood sugar level, and total cholesterol. Abstract

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a disease characterized by continuous and progressive airflow resistance and is usually associated with increased chronic inflammatory response to noxious particles and gases in the respiratory tract. The high proportion of smokers in Indonesia is 65.9% of the male population aged and 4.2% of women above 15 years old and the use of cigarettes are too early to describe COPD. To determine the characteristics of patients with COPD who are hospitalized in H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan, conducted research by using a case series design. Population and the samples were 110 patients in 2012, were recorded in hospital medical records. Univariate data was analyzed descriptively while bivariate data was analyzed by using Chi-square test, Mann-Whitney and Kruskal Wallis with 95% CI. Based on socio-demographic, the highest proportions were in the age group ≥ 60 years (64.5%), male gender (86.5%), 56.4% Protestant religion, level of education high school / equivalent (61.8%), retired job (36.4%), and the outsider of Medan city (67.3%). Highest proportion based on the medical conditions were shortness of breath (100%), mild severity stage (50%), the last type of disease and hypertension pulmonary TB (28.4%), exacerbation of complications (63.1%), and history of smoking (70, 9%). The length Maintainability was on average 7.44 days, it was not their own cost but it was cost source (84.5%), while the condition by outpatient treatment (77.3%). There is a significant difference between the cost of a long treatment with source (p = 0.001) and the condition after going out of being hospitalized (p = 0.001). There is no significant difference between smoking history based on complications and duration of treatment based on complications. The hospital are expected to complete the registration card status and continuing education programs for the patients and the families of patients, and to the patients are expected to reduce exposure to COPD risk factors.
