Abstract

Imagery is a form of language use that can give a concrete impressions of an object, scene, action, or statement that distinguishes it from abstract expository statements and usually has something to do with symbolism. This is illustrated in the poem "Di Negeri Amplop" by KH. A. Mustofa Bisri which involves 7 elements of poetic imagery. The purpose of this study is (1) to find out how students analyze the image of poetry in the land of KH's envelope. A Mustofa Bisri. (2). To find out the application of poetry learning materials by lecturers. Researchers use descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection techniques include: Observation, Interview, and Documentation. In connection with this, data analysis techniques can be obtained from various sources of books related to poetry. The data analysis techniques data reduction, data display, and verification. The results of this study show that students' ability to analyze poetry imagery is still very low. This is related to the method of application in learning is still conventional. Furthermore, it can be argued that imagery is a style of narration that is widely used in literary writing. The image gives an interesting impression to the poem "Di Negeri Envelope" by KH. A. Mustofa Bisri which involves the 7 elements of imagery. In connection with this, the application of literature learning methods must be varied so that students' analytical skills can be improved.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the types of modal auxiliaries and the meanings of modal auxiliaries in the novel The Lord of Flies by William Golding. This study uses mixed methods. First, this study used corpus-based quantitative data to obtain modal auxiliary in The Lord of Flies novel examined by looking at the concordance and frequency of the Ant Conc software tools. Second, the data analysis process used qualitative methods to show the function or meaning of the modal auxiliary verbs in The Lord of Flies novel. Based on data analysis, it shows that there are 549 modal auxiliary verbs in The Lord of Flies novel divided into 9 types of modals, namely the modal could with an occurrence frequency of 161 times (24.49%), the modal can with an occurrence frequency of 136 times (24.91%), the modal would appear with a frequency of 111 times (20.33%), the modal might appear with a frequency of 41 times (7.69%), the modal must appear with a frequency of 37 times (6.78%), the modal should appear with a frequency of 22 times (4.03%), the modal will appear with a frequency of 15 times (2.75%), the modal may appear with a frequency of 14 times (2.56%), and the modal shall appear with a frequency of 8 times (1.47%). And the meanings of modal auxiliary verbs in The Lord of Flies novel are intentional, epistemic, deontic, and dynamic meanings.

Abstract

This research was conducted due to the lack of public knowledge and awareness about oral traditions, especially Dalil Moro. What distinguishes this study from the previous research is the objective of the study. This study concentrates on the meaning of oral traditions and their application to anthropolinguistic learning. Furthermore, the objectives of this study are (1) to describe the meaning of the oral tradition of Dalil Moro and its implications for anthropolinguistic learning. (2) explain how the implications of oral tradition on anthropolinguistic learning are concerned. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive, Qualitative research is a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observable behaviors (Jalaluddin, 2004: 22). The data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interviews, and reading and note-taking techniques. The data analysis technique used in this study is qualitative data analysis. Which is divided into several parts (Sugiono, 2015: 338) Reduction, Data Display (Data Presentation), Drawing conclusions and verification. Research Results and Conclusions ; 1). Abstract

The main function of language is to communicate. Communication is carried out by humans who are social creatures. Humans as social creatures are always required to interact with other humans. Humans are creatures created to live in contact with other people. The interaction process requires tools to communicate with other individuals. On the basis of this, what is called language variation then emerged.Language variation itself arises because of the social interaction process of various language actors. Language is one of the ghost tools to interact with other humans. All ideas, ideas, and intentions of the speaker are conveyed through language. The characteristics of language variation that occur due to differences in usage include lexicogrammatical, phonological, indicator features in the form of certain word forms, certain grammatical markers, or even phonological markers that function to give signs to language actors that this is the intended register. These markers or characteristics also distinguish one register from another.Language variations regarding their use, usage, or function are called functionalolects. These variations usually discuss the use of style, or level of formality, and means of use. The language variations used vary according to the needs and requirements in their respective fields. For example in the fields of literature, education, military, journalism, economics, trade, and others.

Abstract

Language maintenance need to be done for the sake of non-existant languages. The extinction of language influences of local wisdom and make disappearance of the nation's assets. One way can be done is to preserve togal manika: a combination of music, dance, and song. This art comes from the island of Makean with the terms Makean Luar and Makean Dalam in North Maluku. This study explain (1) Diglosi that occurs in the Island of Makean, North Maluku, and explain (2) efforts to preserve the language of togal manika. Data collection using observation and interview. The results of the study found that (1) diglossia was occurred in Low Language in the familial sphere kinship, neighborhood, and friendship. In Higher Language, diglosi was occured in all domains: education, government, religion. Efforts to preserve the language of the Togal Manika.

Abstract

The urgency of the Ternate language rorasa research is the oral tradition of the North Maluku community, especially the city of Ternate. Some of the similarities are the use of pantuns, cum-cum rorasa which are sung and contain advice in their delivery. This shows that there are similarities in several regions based on the form of the text. However, different performances are interesting and important phenomena to study because they are related to meanings that refer to the local wisdom of the Ternate region, an oral tradition in the form of storytelling art that is passed down from generation to generation.Rorasa is sung in informal situations. In informal situations, rorasa is sung at events such as weddings, deaths. In this study, researchers focus on language as a source of culture and speaking is a language practice. This study examines the meaning of the rorasa oral tradition in a particular community of the Ternate community which is an oral tradition that is passed down from generation to generation.The purpose of this study is (1) to describe the meaning of the rorasa oral tradition and its implications for anthropolinguistic learning. (2) explain how the implications of oral tradition are on anthropolinguistic learning. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research method. The informants in this study were the people of Ternate city, especially in Tubo sub-district. The data analysis technique used in this study is qualitative data analysis.
