Abstract

The COVID-19 epidemic has significantly impacted adolescent mental health, particularly in cases of anxiety. The underlying causes, though, are yet unknown. The goal of this study is to identify any potential influences on adolescent anxiety during the COVID-19 epidemic. Cross-sectional time series analysis is the method used in this investigation. The 188 teenagers who made up the study's samples ranged in age from 15 to 18 years old. The sampling method made use of the probability sampling. The Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) questionnaire was used as the instrument for gathering the data. Then, univariate, bivariate, and multivariate were used in the statistical test. Most of the respondents, namely 143 respondents (76.1%) experienced anxiety. The most influential factor in anxiety is the source of information (p value 0.020). The factors related to anxiety were sources of information, resilience, loneliness, social support, and having positive COVID-19 patients within the family or around the family environment. During the COVID-19, the source of information variable was found to be the most important variable related to the anxiety.  Lack of clear information makes thingking worse and increases adolescent anxiety. It is recommended for healthcare services and community health centers to provide accurate information about COVID-19 in educational institutions to reduce adolescent anxiety.

Abstract

Semakin sering konsumsi kopi maka semakin tinggi resiko peningkatan tekanan darah individu, begitu juga sebaliknya semakin jarang konsumsi kopi maka semakin rendah risiko peningkatan tekanan darah individu. Semakin buruk kualitas tidur maka semakin tinggi risiko peningkatan tekanan darah individu, begitu juga sebaliknya semakin baik kualitas tidur maka semakin rendah risiko peningkatan tekanan darah individu.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents are an age group highly exposed to social media in their daily lives. The high intensity of social media use has raised concerns about its negative impact on adolescent mental health. Purpose: This review aims to map the scientific evidence related to the impact of social media on mental health in adolescents. Methods: Using the Arksey and O'Malley scoping review framework, this study followed five key stages: formulating the research question, identifying relevant literature, selecting appropriate studies, organizing the data, and reporting the findings. Articles were searched through the PubMed database and the Google Scholar search engine, covering publication years 2021–2025. A total of 80 articles were screened using the PRISMA flowchart and critical appraisal, following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidelines, resulting in eight articles meeting the inclusion criteria. Results: Three main themes emerged: intensity of social media use, disturbed sleep quality, and mental health disorders such as stress, anxiety, and depression. Most adolescents use social media for more than three hours per day, with TikTok and WhatsApp being the dominant platforms. High usage correlates with increased sleep disturbances and the risk of depressive symptoms and stress. Conclusion: Social media has a significant impact on adolescent mental health. Digital literacy education and parental supervision are crucial to prevent these negative impacts.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional condition that impairs child growth and development, particularly during critical physical formation periods. Among various factors influencing toddler growth and stunting incidence, parenting style is a significant determinant. This study aimed to determine the influence of parenting styles on stunting incidence and the development of toddlers aged 24–59 months in Pulo Lor Village, Jombang Regency. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional analytic design was conducted. A sample of 54 toddlers was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using anthropometric measurements and questionnaires, and subsequently analyzed using Linear Regression to assess the correlation between parenting styles, stunting rates, and child development. The results showed that the majority of respondents (74.1%, n=40) applied a democratic parenting style. Most toddlers (n=43) were not stunted, and 74.1% (n=40) demonstrated appropriate development. The statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). It is concluded that there is a significant influence of parenting style on stunting incidence and toddler development in the study area. Stunting prevalence and toddler development are strongly associated with parenting styles. Enhancing parental knowledge and support is crucial to prevent stunting and promote healthy growth, particularly regarding caregiving, nutrition, and developmental stimulation.
