Abstract

Literature is a type of writing that uses language in a special way and can be enjoyed by readers or listeners. There are many types of literary works that can be researched, but this study will only focus on one type of literary work, namely film. Character is an important element in literary works, especially in the world of film. Characters give the important roles to make the story in a film more alive. Studying literature through films will help us learn the characterizations in the story and can learn about the personality, culture and habits of the characters who play in the film. The method of this study is descriptive analytical method. Data and data sources are from the scenes and dialogues in the ―What happened to Monday‖ film which are collected by using documenting technique. The data for the research is all sentences in dialogues and shown in all the scenes of the film which are related to the characters’ characterization and moral messages. The conclusion of this research states that The characterizations of the character that are played by Noomi Rapace are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday who have different characters, and there are two categories of moral messages that the researcher had taken from this film, the relations with oneself and the human relations with other humans in the social sphere..

Abstract

This study aims to know the effect of using flashcard media on students’ vocabulary mastery at the 7th Grade of MTs Zainul Hasan Sambirejo, Pare. Design used was pre experimental research pre-test post-test one group only. Sample taken was 32 from 82 population by using simple random sampling. To collect the data, the researcher used vocabulary written test with 25 items in multiple-choice format. In analyzing data, she used IBM SPSS statistic versions. 25 application of paired-sample t.test. It aims to know whether there is or not a significant difference between before given the treatment and after given the treatment using flashcard media on students’ vocabulary mastery. After collecting and calculating data, she found that mean of pre-Test 72.06, mean of post-Test 91.38, median of pre-test 82, median of post-test 96, mode of pre-test 84 and mode of post-test 100. In testing the hypothesis, she used t-test formula. She found that p value Sig (2-tailed)= 0.000 < 0.05, at the level significance of df = 31. So, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis could be accepted. It means that using flashcard media affects students’ vocabulary mastery at the 7th Grade of MTs Zainul Hasan Sambirejo, Pare, Kediri

Abstract

In this era of globalization, English Language is essential for our daily life,and also english is the language that has always been used to communicate in every country, in actuality the second most spoken language worldwide. Culture shock refers to the impact of moving from a familiar culture to one that is unfamiliar. This impact includes the anxiety and feelings (such as surprise, disorientation, uncertainty, and confusion) felt when a person must adapt to a different and unknown cultural or social environment. This research using a qualitative method (field research), this research is designed to analyze what students’culture shock that they feel when learning english at central course in kampung inggris pare kediri. Based on the findings of research and discussion, the students feel enjoy and fun in learning English. Then some of students find the culture shock during they study english which has different culture that make them unfamiliar, but there are also students who have poor social cultural adaption. Culture shock is very influential in the social cultural adaptation of students. The way a child lives in their old environment will also affect the social and cultural adaptation of their new environment.

Abstract

Penguasaan bahasa Inggris menjadi kebutuhan mendesak bagi mahasiswa di era globalisasi, baik untuk mendukung capaian akademik maupun kesiapan menghadapi dunia kerja. Namun, banyak mahasiswa masih menghadapi kendala dalam keterampilan berbahasa, khususnya pada aspek kelancaran dan kepercayaan diri. Penelitian dan pengabdian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan implementasi program Kuliah Pengabdian Masyarakat (KPM) mahasiswa Universitas Islam Bunga Bangsa Cirebon melalui kolaborasi dengan Kampung Inggris Pare sebagai upaya optimalisasi kemampuan berbahasa. Metode kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dengan melibatkan mahasiswa sebagai fasilitator dan pembelajar aktif. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa observasi partisipatif, wawancara reflektif, dokumentasi, serta pre-test dan post-test speaking. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan bahasa mahasiswa, khususnya pada aspek fluency dan confidence. Rata-rata skor pre-test sebesar 65/100 meningkat menjadi 81/100 pada post-test. Selain itu, mahasiswa berhasil menginisiasi kegiatan kreatif seperti English Debate Club, Storytelling Competition, dan Public Speaking Workshop yang memperkuat lingkungan belajar bahasa. Kolaborasi ini juga berdampak pada pengembangan soft skills mahasiswa, meliputi kepemimpinan, kerjasama tim, dan keterampilan komunikasi publik.
