Abstract

This research was carried out with the aim of describing several things, namely (1) describing and explaining language errors from the use of capital letters in writing Reader's Letters in the 2023 edition of Hidayatullah Magazine, (2) describing and explaining language errors in writing words in Reader's Letters in the Magazine Hidayatullah 2023 edition, (3) describes and explains language errors in the use of punctuation marks in the Reader's Letter in the 2023 edition of Hidayatullah Magazine. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research design. The data for this research is in the form of Reader Letters in the 2023 edition of Suara Hidayatullah magazine. The method in this research is the observation method. This data was collected through observation. The data collection technique used was reading and note-taking. In collecting data, the researcher read the Reader's Letter and then observed language errors according to the spelling level, especially errors in the use of capital letters, errors in writing words, and errors in the use of punctuation marks. To maintain the validity of the data, data triangulation activities were carried out. Data analysis activities start from the data review stage, data identification and classification stage, and data evaluation stage.

Abstract

abstrak—Strategi yang menarik dalam sebuah pembelajaran akan berimbas positif terhadap pemahaman siswa terhadap suatu materi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah manganalisis efektivitas strategi saat pembelajaran membaca dan memahami teks editorial siswa kelas XII IPA di SMA Negeri 1 Parengan Tuban Tahun Pengajaran 2023/2024 dengan menggunakan strategi CIRC atau Cooperatif Integrated Reading and Composition. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan metode Liliesfors dengan jumlah subjek kelas eksperimen sejumlah 31 siswa kelas XII IPA1 dan kelas kontrol sejumlah 30 siswa kelas XII IPA 3. Penelitian ini memiliki hipotesis yang didasarkan ada atau tidaknya peningkatan dan perubahan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami teks editorial dengan menerapkan strategi CIRC. Hasil penelitian ini memaparkan nilai t hitung yakni 3,5356 lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan nilai t tabel sebesar 2,3044 sehingga H0 ditolak. Di kelas eksperimen, rerata hasil tes siswa mengalami peningkatan dari 65,81 menjadi 83,71 sedangkan di kelas kontrol mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 76,00 menjadi 77,67. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat dipahami bahwa penerapan strategi pembelajaran CIRC dinilai efektif serta memberikan pengaruh terhadap peningkatan kemampuan membaca siswa dalam memahami teks editorial.Kata kunci—Kemampuan Memahami Teks Editorial, Strategi CIRC, Siswa Kelas XII IPA Abstract—An interesting strategy in learning will have a positive impact on students' understanding of the material. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of strategies when learning to read and understand editorial texts for class The data obtained were then analyzed using the Liliesfors method with the number of experimental class subjects being 31 students in class XII IPA1 and the control class being 30 students in class by implementing the CIRC strategy. The results of this research show that the calculated t value is 3.5356 which is higher compared to the t table value of 2.3044 so that H0 is rejected. In the experimental class, the average student test results increased from 65.81 to 83.71, while in the control class, it increased from 76.00 to 77.67. Based on the research results, it can be understood that the application of the CIRC learning strategy is considered effective and has an influence on improving students' reading skills in understanding editorial texts.Keywords—Ability to Understand Editorial Text, CIRC Strategy, Class XII Science Students
