Abstract

This research explores the concept of the self in Islamic philosophy, revealing its critical role in understanding the divine. It highlights the perspectives of key philosophers such as Al-Farabi, Ibn Sina, and Ibn Arabi, who collectively emphasized that self-knowledge is essential to achieving a deeper understanding of God. Al-Farabi's focus on active intelligence illustrates the progressive nature of intellectual growth, while Ibn Arabi's insight into the role of the heart in spiritual experience underscores the importance of experiential knowledge. The hadith “Man 'Arafa Nafsahu 'Arafa Rabbahu” encapsulates the idea that self-awareness is the gateway to divine understanding, bridging philosophical inquiry with spiritual practice. This synthesis of thought illustrates that self-exploration in Islamic philosophy is a holistic effort, integrating intelligence, spirituality, and ethical life, which ultimately guides individuals towards a deep understanding of their relationship with the Divine.

Abstract

This research analyzed potential sectors and development strategies in each city/regency in the Rebana Metropolitan Area, from 2018 to 2022. The research method used was quantitative descriptive using several analytical methods, namely Location Quotient, Shift Share, Labor Productivity Levels per Sector, and Klassen Typology. The research results show that each district/city in the Rebana Metropolitan Area has different economic characteristics, apart from that priority infrastructure projects and industrialization which are the direction of development of the Rebana Metropolitan Area have not had a significant impact on the progress of cities/regencies in the Rebana Metropolitan Area.

Abstract

This study combines growth center theory, basic sector concept, and shift-share analysis to evaluate the impact of the establishment of the National Activity Center (PKN) of Surakarta and its surroundings on the Subosukawonosraten Development Area. The results show that the policy of determining the national activity center in the city area tends to increase economic growth, however, the hierarchical structure of the national urban system must be considered. The application of Functional Urban Area (FUA) emerges as a solution to support economic growth and sustainability, with infrastructure being the key driver. The analysis of basic economic sectors shows that the policy of establishing PKN Surakarta affects the growth of the industrial sector, especially in the area around Subosukawonosraten. Surakarta City becomes the center of service sector activities, while the surrounding areas develop in the industrial sector. The result also differentiates the development of economic base between the areas designated as Regional City Center (PKW) and Local City Center (PKL).
