Abstract

Malaria continues to be an important public health concern across many Asian nations, with Indonesia remaining one of the most affected country. Despite significant advancements in diagnostics, treatment, and vector control strategies, multiple challenges hinder Indonesia's goal of malaria elimination by 2030. This systematic review describes the epidemiological burden of malaria in Asia with a focus on Indonesia, outlines key challenges such as geographical, ecological, and socio-cultural-political barriers, and discusses comprehensive strategies to overcome these obstacles. A systematic literature search was conducted through electronic databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar, as well as official reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI), using keywords like ‘malaria’, ‘Indonesia’, ‘elimination’, ‘malaria challenges’ and ‘vector management’. The selection criteria prioritized scientific publication and official reports published between 2011 and 2025 to ensure the currency of the data. Strengthening surveillance, community empowerment, regional and cross-border cooperation, and innovation in control tools are essential to achieving malaria elimination in Indonesia and other endemic countries in Asia.

Abstract

Background: The treatment compliance of rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis (TB RO) patients in Indonesia remains suboptimal, with a therapy success rate of only 51%. Various psychosocial determinants such as perceived respect from healthcare providers, effective communication, and family support are believed to influence patients’ adherence, with motivation serving as a potential psychological mediator. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of respect, effective communication, and family support on treatment compliance among TB RO patients, with motivation as an intervening variable. Method: A quantitative approach using a cross-sectional design was applied. The study population comprised 116 TB RO patients treated at Tangerang City Hospital, and 90 respondents were selected using Slovin’s formula with simple random sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using SmartPLS 4. Results: Respect from healthcare providers did not significantly affect treatment compliance (T=0.533; p=0.594). Effective communication showed no direct influence on compliance, but had a significant indirect effect through motivation (T=3.349; p=0.001). Family support had a significant direct effect on compliance (T=2.058; p=0.040) and also influenced compliance indirectly via motivation. Motivation acted as a mediator between effective communication and family support with compliance, but did not mediate the effect of respect. Conclusion: Family support emerged as the most influential factor in improving treatment compliance among TB RO patients. Strengthening patients’ motivation through enhanced respect and effective communication from healthcare providers is recommended to improve adherence outcomes

Abstract

ABSTRACT Long waiting times for medication have led to long queues and increased patient complaints about pharmaceutical services. This issue has resulted in low patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services at Balaraja Regional Hospital, as reflected in public satisfaction surveys conducted in the second half of 2024 and the first half of 2025which showed poor results.. Drug delivery services are a form of digital innovation in pharmaceutical services that aims to reduce the density of pharmacy queues and increase patient accessibility to drugs.. Balaraja Regional General Hospital, Tangerang Regency, has collaborated with JNE in providing home drug delivery services since March 2025, but the utilization rate is still low (7%) of the target of 20%. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the utilization of drug delivery services at Balaraja Regional General Hospital, Tangerang Regency in 2025. A quantitative approach was used in this study using a Cross Sectional study design. A sample of 150 respondents was selected using Purposive Sampling techniques from the entire population, namely outpatients who received prescription services, amounting to 9448. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and electronic medical records. Data analysis used Chi-Square and Prevalence Ratio (PR) statistical tests. The results of the study showed that 60.7% of respondents did not utilize the service. Variables showing significant relationships were income (p=0.029; PR=1.475), information exposure (p0.001; PR=3.017), and perception of estimated time of arrival (p=0.04; PR=1.521). Other variables, such as gender, education level, perceived cost, perceived distance, and chronic disease status, did not show significant relationships. Information exposure was the strongest factor associated with service utilization. Balaraja Regional General Hospital, Tangerang Regency, needs to improve its service socialization strategy, reduce service fees, and accelerate estimated delivery times. Keywords: Drugs Delivery Services, Healthcare Utilization, Information Exposure, Income, Perception of Estimated Time of Arrival.
