Abstract

Eggplant is a popular horticultural crop in Indonesia due to its nutritional content and health benefits. According to data from BPS Kebumen Regency, eggplant production declined from 2020 to 2022. One of the ways to improve eggplant production is by using compost fertilizer. This study aims to determine the effect of different types of compost fertilizers on the growth and yield of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) in different varieties. The research was conducted from September to December 2024 in Krakal Village. The method used was a factorial Complete Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with six treatments: Antaboga variety, Ratih Ungu variety, control, chicken manure compost, cow manure compost, and goat manure compost. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software, and if significant differences were found, the DMRT test at a 5% level was applied. The results showed that the Antaboga variety combined with cow manure compost produced the best results in several variables, including plant height (36.69 cm), fruit diameter (43.73 mm), fruit weight (143.63 g), and fruit length (22.50 cm). Meanwhile, the Ratih Ungu variety with goat manure compost showed the best results in plant height (44.12 cm), total fruit per plant (1.75 fruits), and fruit diameter (40.10 mm).

Abstract

Aloe vera is a tropical plant with high economic value in health, cosmetics, and agricultural industries. This study aims to analyze the shoot growth of Aloe vera var. chinensis on sandy soil and determine the best seedling source based on plant growth performance. The research was conducted in Tegalretno Village, Petanahan District, Kebumen Regency, from August to November 2024, using a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with a non-factorial approach. Five seedling sources (Gunung Kidul, Bantul, Purbalingga, Cilacap, and Kebumen) were tested with five replications. Data were analyzed using DMRT at a 5% significance level. The results showed that treatment A3 (Purbalingga seed source) exhibited the best shoot growth parameters, including the highest number of shoots (3.3125 shoots), the highest number of leaflets per shoot (6.771833 leaflets), and the tallest leaflet height (22.3708 cm). In terms of overall plant growth, A3 also performed well in plant height (45.975 cm) and leaf circumference (13.675 cm). Meanwhile, treatment A1 (Gunung Kidul) excelled in leaf length (43.15 cm). The lowest growth performance was observed in A2 (Bantul). Genetic factors and environmental adaptation played crucial roles in shoot development. Based on these findings, the Purbalingga seed source (A3) is recommended for cultivating Aloe vera in sandy soil conditions.

Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays Saccharata Sturt) is a popular horticultural crop among the community. However, sweet corn production in Kebumen experienced a decline from 2021 to 2023. One method to increase production yield is by applying the appropriate and balanced fertilizer dosage. This study aims to analyze the growth response and yield of sweet corn to the application of goat manure and NPK fertilizer in Surorejan Village. The research method used was a completely randomized block design with two treatment factors: goat manure (P) and NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer (N). The P factor consisted of four treatment doses: P0 (0 kg/m²), P1 (1 kg/m²), P2 (2 kg/m²), and P3 (3 kg/m²). The N factor had four treatment levels: N0 (0 kg/m²), N1 (0.01 kg/m²), N2 (0.02 kg/m²), and N3 (0.03 kg/m²). The observed data were analyzed using SPSS. If significant differences were found, further analysis was conducted using the 5% DMRT test to determine the best treatment. The results showed that goat manure and NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer did not have a significant effect on the growth of sweet corn (Zea mays Saccharata Sturt). However, the P3 treatment showed a significant difference in the yield of sweet corn.

Abstract

Tanaman lidah buaya (Aloe Vera L.) merupakan tanaman tahan cekaman salinitas. Namun, setiap perubahan agroklimatologi akan berpengaruh terhadap fisiologi tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon produksi dan fisiologi tanaman lidah buaya yang ditanam di lahan berpasir dengan menggunakan perlakuan salinitas. Penelitian dilaksanakan bulan Februari – September 2024  pada greenhouse yang terletak di Desa Tegalretno, Kecamatan Petanahan, Kabupaten Kebumen. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial dengan 2 faktor yaitu asal bibit (P) dan salinitas (S). Faktor P menggunakan 3 taraf perlakuan bibit lidah buaya varietas chinensis asal penangkar gunung kidul, bantul, dan cilacap. sedangkan faktor S menggunakan 4 taraf perlakuan yaitu penambahan NaCl sebanyak 0, 10, 15 dan 20 g/L. Data hasil pengamatan dientri pada komputer kemudian dianalisis menggunakan aplikasi SPSS (software statistical package for the social sciences) dengan taraf 5%. Apabila terdapat perbedaan yang nyata, maka akan diuji lanjut menggunakan uji DMRT dengan taraf 5% untuk mengetahui perlakuan yang terbaik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa respon produksi dan fisiologi pada lidah buaya umur 10 bulan pada kondisi cekaman salinitas sebagai berikut : Bibit asal Gunung Kidul menunjukkan adaptasi yang baik terhadap kondisi salinitas, perlakuan salinitas memberikan pengaruh terhasap beberapa parameter fisiologi dan produksi tanaman lidah buaya meskipun secara statistik tidak semua menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan, perlakuan P1S2 (Bibit Gunung Kidul dengan salinitas 15 g/L) adalah perlakuan terbaik karena memberikan hasil yang baik pada berbagai parameter produksi dan fisiologi tanaman lidah buaya.

Abstract

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is one of the horticultural commodities that has good prospects and commercial value. According to BPS data, Banjarnegara Regency has experienced an increase from 2021 to 2023. One way to increase lettuce production is by utilizing tilapia fish ponds using an aquaponics system. This technique also cultivates and harvests two commodities simultaneously, namely lettuce and tilapia fish. This research aims to determine the growth and yield of lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and to identify the suitable varieties for the aquaponic system. The research was conducted from December to January in the pesantren village. The method used is a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non- factorial with one treatment, using five varieties of lettuce: Romaine, Siomak, Grand Rapid, Olga Red, and Captiva. The observational data were analyzed using SPSS software. If significant differences are found, further analysis using the DMRT 5% test will be conducted to determine the best treatment. The results of the study indicate that the best variety from the data is V3 (grand Rapid) with a high wet weight value of (99.06 grams), the highest dry leaf weight (2.58 grams), and the widest leaf area (51.01 cm2). V2 (Siomak) with a yield of 20.90 is significantly different and the highest from other treatments, indicating the greatest effect on plant height.
