Abstract

The main problem encountered by soybean crop in acid sulfate tidal lands is less availability of P, because of its chemical bond with Fe. Heavy dose of  fertilization often lead to high fertilizer residue, wich could be used for crops farming using AMF. Research was conducted to study the effect of soybean culturing technique and AMF inoculants source on growth of  soybean. The treatments consisted two factors, arranged in a randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was four inoculants sources of AMF, namely AMF and without inoculation AMF, inoculants from rhizospheres of kudzu (Pueraria javanica), sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), corn (Zea mays) and soybean (Glycine max). The second factor was culturing tehnique, namely water saturated and dry soil culture. Soybeans were grown in pots containing 5 kg soil derived from tidal land,  Simpang Village, District of Berbak, East Tanjung Jabung Regency,  Jambi Province. Results showed that the interaction saturated soil culture with inoculants from corn’s rhizosphere had positive effect on the variability of N, P and K uptake, N and P content in the plant, relative efficiency of inoculants and relative efficiency of P uptake, stem diameter, biomass dry weight, the number of filled pods and seed dry weight of soybeans. Dry soil culture with inoculants of corn’s rhizosphere had greater root colonization, but overall for the growth and grain yield of soybean, saturated soil culture with inoculants from corn rhizosphere has better effect on other growth variables.

Abstract

Recently planting site of sugarcane was shifted from lowland to upland area. Sugar cane cultivation in upland has many constraints, especially limited water supply and low nutrition availability. The objectives of this research were to study the influence of application of composted filter cake on growth and water use efficiency of upland sugar cane. The research was conducted in Jengkol, Kediri. Treatments consist of three factors: frequency of irrigation (once every 1 week, once every 2 weeks, and once every 3 weeks); sugarcane varieties (PS-862 and PS-864); and compost doses (0, 2.5, 5, and 7.5 ton ha-1). Split plot design with three replications was used in each irrigation treatment, using composted filter cake as main plots and sugarcane varieties as sub plots. The results showed that the highest sugar content was reached at application of 5 ton ha-1 compost and the greatest crystal sugar was reached at 3.09 ton ha-1 compost. Compost application at 5 ton ha-1 on each planted row can reduce frequency of irrigation from once a week to once every 2 weeks.

Abstract

Increasing rice production in the dry season can be performed by improving irrigation management and use of rice varieties with high water use efficiency. This study aimed to compare the response of growth and production of six rice varieties to different irrigation intervals and obtaining the estimate of water use efficiency. This research was conducted from June to November 2019 in Indramayu Regency using a split-plot design with irrigation intervals as the main plot, namely A = continuous irrigation, B = 4-day interval, C = 8-day interval, D = 12-day interval, and six rice varieties as the subplot, namely V1 = Ciherang, V2 = Mekongga, V3 = INPARI 32, V4 = IPB 3S, V5 = INPAGO 11 and V6 = Situ Bagendit. The results showed that the growth and yield of rice were influenced by watering interval and variety. Longer watering intervals decreased growth and yields more markedly. IPB 3S had the highest water use efficiency and INPAGO 11 had the lowest efficiency. The best irrigation interval at the time of this study was the 8-day interval, or irrigation that should be applied if the water level became 1.62 cm below the soil surface. Abstract

Petani tebu dibeberapa tempat memberi tambahan dosis pemupukan melebihi dosis rekomendasi pemupukan setempat, khususnya ZA, untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan rendemen tebu. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk mengetahui korelasi dosis pemupukan N-total yang diterapkan petani dengan produktivitas dan rendemen. Kegiatan penelitian dilakukan pada 4 Februari 2018 hingga 5 juni 2018 di PG Kebon Agung, Malang-Jawa Timur. Kajian dilakukan dengan menghitung produktivitas dan pengukuran brix. Rekomendasi dosis pupuk N-total yang digunakan yaitu 186 kg ha-1 dan rekomendasi dosis pupuk N-total dari pabrik gula sebanyak 228 kg ha-1. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata pemupukan N-total petani wilayah utara sebesar 274.8 kg ha-1 sedangkan wilayah selatan menggunakan dosis pupuk N-total sebesar 421.5 kg ha-1. Uji korelasi menunjukkan bahwa pupuk N berkorelasi nyata dengan produktivitas dan tidak berkorelasi nyata dengan rendemen tebu. Jaminan bagi hasil gula yang diterapkan oleh pabrik mendorong petani untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dengan cara penambahan dosis pemupukan tanpa memperhatikan rendemen tebu.

Abstract

Intensifikasi tebu keprasan lahan kering merupakan salah satu cara dalam rangka meningkatkan produksi gula nasional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari respon pertumbuhan dan hasil dua varietas tebu terhadap residual kompos blotong dan pupuk anorganik pada budidaya tebu lahan kering. Penelitian dilakukan bulan Agustus 2019 sampai dengan Juli 2020 pada tebu keprasan pertama di lahan percobaan PT Kebun Tebu Mas, Lamongan, Jawa Timur dengan rancangan split split plot. Perlakuan terdiri atas tiga faktor yaitu varietas (PS 881 dan PS 862) sebagai petak utama, residual kompos blotong (taraf 0, 5, dan 10 ton ha-1) sebagai anak petak, dan residual pupuk anorganik (25%, 50%, 75%, dan 100% dosis rekomendasi sebesar 600 kg ha‑1 ZA dan 400 kg ha‑1 NPK 15-15-15) sebagai anak-anak petak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan varietas PS 862 lebih tinggi daripada PS 881 pada keragaan tinggi tanaman, panjang ruas, diameter, panjang batang, dan jumlah batang. Residual kompos blotong memiliki pengaruh nyata lebih baik pada taraf 10 ton ha-1 pada panjang ruas. Residual pupuk anorganik taraf 75% menyebabkan respon yang nyata lebih baik pada peubah jumlah daun, jumlah tunas, jumlah batang dan diameter. Varietas PS 862 dengan 5 ton ha-1 residual kompos blotong menghasilkan bobot batang terbaik sebesar 0.48 kg m-1. Varietas PS 881 memiliki nilai optimum sebesar 71.19% residual pupuk anorganik untuk mencapai hasil tebu sebesar 60.31 ton ha-1. Kata kunci: gula, intensifikasi, lahan kering, PS 862, PS 881
